As the title said above, I have these 3 games on my steam and I can't decide between the 3.
For reference, I really enjoyed Bioshock series, Mass Effect series, and Crysis series. I love great shooter series with good storyline (such as bioshock and ME)
Let me know what you think.
Thanks

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Go with Metro then.
-
Dead Island is more like Borderlands and wasn't fun for me without other people to play with so unless you're looking for something different it's either Metro or Dead Space.
-
Wolfenstein.

If you have all three just play all three.
sasuke256, killkenny1 and Jarhead like this. -
Dead island got boring very quickly, it is very repetitive gameplay and a garbage story. The only way you can have fun is if you're just fooling around with other players. Get something else.
-
Personally I loved Dead Island. I loved Watch Dogs though so go figure.
Dead Space I just couldn't get into it and I tried starting it a couple times.
I have Metro from Steam sale but it's in my backlog waiting for me to get to it so I can't help with that. -
-
Shooter? Metro 2033 then. At least it has a decent narrative based on a good book. Dead Space is like Resident Evil set in space. Dead Island is an open-world ARPG with a lackluster storyline.

HL1 never caught my interest and when I tried the demo for HL2 years ago it gave me motion sickness. -
-
-
LMAO, the motion sickness was the exact same reason I never played that game. While everyone was calling it the greatest game ever it made me sick. My two cents go with metro. -
-
I would play Dead Space first. Then proceed with Dead Island and lastly, Metro. You can just play the games you own on Steam.
-
I started to own my own gaming laptop only 3 years ago so I didn't get to experience some of the older games
Metro 2033 is not as good as I hopedbut I'll keep going..
Hm I didnt know you can get motion sickness from shooter game. -
Dead Space is the best of the three, and it's not even close in my view. It's the closest we've come to a System Shock 2 successor.
Oh and HL2 is the only game I've ever played, that made me so sick I had to lay down. -
-
I am immune to motion sickness from video games. No matter how small the FOV is I never feel sick. It's strange how it affects people in different ways.

I actually never understood how one gets motion sickness from a video game. -
Metro 2033 if you're playing on your own. Personally I never got into Dead space although I can appreciate that it is a good game. Dead island is boring as hell by yourself or a hoot if your stomping zombies to the curb with some buddies. Don't play that one for the story either.

I get motion sickness as a passenger in cars (especially bad cabbies) quite often, on boats too. I take Dramamine before flying just in case as well since I did get slightly nauseous on a plane once. You could try non-drowsy Dramamine before playing a game to see if it will help. I've very very rarely gotten motion sickness playing a game though, which is odd I think. The one time I did was the first time I played Doom on an extremely large monitor (yes this was like 20 years ago..). I think the amount of the game that's in my field of view is what causes it sometimes.
If you have a super large monitor, try sitting a little further back or try a smaller monitor? Not sure what to suggest. -
I remember it happened to me first time with HL1, and didn't realize it at the time that it was FOV, and never finished the game. It happened a couple more times over the years until I finally found out it was FOV. I then went back and played the games that gave me issues and didn't have the motion sickness any more. Any time I get that feeling, I increase FOV and it usually goes away. -
I once saw a good explanation on field of view and motion sickness when gaming:
Basically it comes down to screen size, distance to screen and field of view. If you loose your peripheral vision you risk feeling nausea.
As laptop users our screen sizes and distances are more or less fixed (unless you´re using an external monitor), but we can change field of view. As stated, raise horizontal fov to 90 and it should help.Last edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015 -

FOV can be adjusted in HL2 via settings. Valve added it later on.

My two cents: HATED Dead Space 3. No way to win, and it became unplayable.
Stopped playing it about half-way through, and gave up.
Playing Metro: Last Light, and extremely hard to get through the radioactive swamps half-way through.
Great game visually, but way too hard to kill off the creatures outside the wrecked plane.
Dead Island? Haven't played yet.
Wouldn't recommend the first two games. Might try Wolfenstein next.... -

Got into Borderlands 2, and now love it. One of the better games out there, now am looking for add-ons to extend it out. -

Saw a medical show talking about Motion Sickness, and they said that the cure for it, was to keep your eyes closed when you start feeling nauseous from motion sickness. When you close your eyes, the sickness will go away.
Dead Island, Dead Space, or Metro 2033?
