    Anyone?

This has got to be the best graphics I have ever seen and it is well optimised to run on even a 1060 at 1080p

But more importantly, is it a immersive title?

More interested in H:ZD as the moment. That all being said im not too surprised really, last Kojima game on PC ran on a potato and looked pretty good while doing it.

Yes! I've been waiting for this for a long time now. It does look awesome and I can't wait to play it.

Sadly, I don't know when that will happen. I've put myself in a bit of a pickle.

I'm mad at Valve for the bs move they're doing with shipping Index orders: prioritizing full kits over headset+controller only orders, without explaining why, without having posted anything about this back in March when I placed my order. Also support is straight up lying saying that they ship them out in order.
There is a discrepancy of over one month now for full kit orders already being shipped which were placed after mid April, while folks who placed their orders around beginning of March for the headset+controller are still being ignored and showing 8+ weeks ETA.

For now, I'm making a point of not buying anything from Steam until this gets solved, even if I have to get my hands dirty to play some games.

It's not the fault of the developers of those games that Valve is doing something you don't like. Unless you just meant using a different store. (Keysellers are garbage)

I know that, but I also know that a large part of the price we pay for a game on steam, goes to Valve, so it sort of made sense. On the other hand, only alternative is epic which I despise way more... so it's currently downloading on steam :/

It does look amazing. Right at the beginning I was sure I was looking at a real life scene. So far it seems to be running very smoothly.

A screenshot doesn't do it justice but here is one:

    Screenshot_3.jpg

After about 3 hours in all I can say wow. It's nothing like any other game out there. It's immersive af and properly creepy. Really really creepy so far.

The plan was just to fire it up to see how it looks and I can check it out tomorrow, can't stay long because I have early meetings... this was 3 hours ago :D Only stopped now because I really need a bathroom break and I did realize how late it is.

Yeah I put a few hours into Death Stranding today. Game is very unique, really fun. Looks really beautiful.

Makes me want to buy a 9900K because I'm really CPU bound with my 1080p display. I cap out around 140-150fps with DLSS set to Quality.

150fps is a bit overkill for a 3d person game...60 is plenty....but them animations at 150 would look insane will someone post a video or pictures of what this game looks like up close to something....textures ect

To each their own, but I simply can't easily accept less than 120fps anymore. The temporal resolution is just too high to sacrifice.

Regarding the game's tech, take a look at this test:

I can also feel the difference with a high fps game vs something under 60ish but in this game, that's the last thing that matters. The movement is not that fast. The graphics, the detail, the terrain, the atmosphere are just amazing.

Also, it is well optimized. Haven't encountered one slowdown and my fans haven't kicked on high at all. In comparison, there are many other games which look much much worse and my laptop struggles way more and gets way hotter. I'm impressed with Death Stranding.

I can see that it may not be for everyone but I enjoy it thoroughly. Last night I spent a few hours just running around gathering materials for a couple road sections. Some may call it a tedious grind but those hours just flew by. I am still playing it offline, I just wanted to see the barren landscape without notices and marks of other players but down the line I see the point of pooling resources.

Small tip, not spoiling anything: when fighting MULEs, parry is king ;)

Edit: I also love the Half-Life easter eggs. They make me smile all the time:

to anyone interested in the best video game experience possible...VR is it...but be warned it will ruin everyother non vr game..it literally takes all the fun out of every 2d non vr game...but if your ok with a small library of games enjoy.. @cucubits your thoughts....I just can't seem to get into games again without vr....half life alyx is simply put too good and once again a half life game 20 years ahead of its time

had to post a new post because I have no idea how to edit and insert a quote in the edit

@Kevin 120fps in a fps or racing game makes a huge difference but it's like saying aoe3 looks better at 300fps vs 100fps some games simply do not profit from higher framerates and 3rd person is one such genre...they move slow as molases and I bet if a scientific study was done 0 percent of people would notice 60fps vs 300fps in a 3rd person game....why do i say this its because I can get 140 fps in gta v and usually lock framerate at 60 and notice 0 difference..some people might be able to tell if they are swinging the camera around wildly like a adhd mental patient but for all intents and purposes there is 0 difference when the animations update at 30fps or 30 hz.. my main point is alot of them are locked in at 30-60fps for animations

I felt exactly the same way after I finished Alyx. Can't remember how long it took me to get over this, I do know I took a couple weeks break from playing altogether. Honestly, now I can't remember which "2D" game got me going again but it does get better. It will be quite some time until more VR games like Alyx come out.

Now with Death Stranding, Horizon Zero Dawn around the corner, Cyberpunk coming out soon-ish, there are alternatives to keep us busy.

Speaking of Cyberpunk, I've been following a sort-of VR game/experience: Low-Fi. Check it out if you haven't already. Saw a sort of review on Tested and it's a very cool project so far.

    https://anticleric.itch.io/low-fi

I haven't played it yet, I keep sitting on my hands and staying out of VR, in the hopes that at some point I get a better headset (not even waiting for the Index anymore).

the quest 2 is coming out soon and that will easily be the best headset of 2020...120hz 100 percent gamut wireless and standalone....forget the index as the quest two will have full hand tracking.

and yeah I have to stay far clear from vr experiences like alyx as its ruining 2d gaming

Besides the numerous Half-Life references, looks like Kojima is a fan of Horizon Zero Dawn too. Very cool.

I'd like to post more pics but I'd also like for everyone to experience it on their own pace. Ideally I'd avoid spoilers. This game really is full of eye candy and the atmosphere it creates is nothing like any other game out there.

One from today, quite the opposite of lush green valleys surrounded by snowy mountains.

I feel a little that way about Elite Dangerous that I've been finally playing a lot of lately after owning it since the beta. Except there's no story to speak of in that, you have to kind of make your own. But it has tons of eye candy scenic shots if you're a space nut like me. All the screenshots and videos I've seen of Death Stranding look fantastic. I just kind of feel like it's a game that I think the THOUGHT of playing it for me is actually better than actually playing it. It might just be enough for me to look at some media time to time..

I'll get Death Stranding eventually, probably in sale in 2021. It evokes the quintessential Kojima experience, usually super creative and nuts. This is also reminding me that I bought MGSV: Ground Zeroes in anticipation of playing that and buying Phantom Pain.. neither of which I actually followed through on.. (I did play all the MGS games through MGS4 on various playstations though..)

Noo, the pics don't do it justice. It really is on another level, which is completely obvious by the first/second mission. I don't want to spoil anything but the first couple hours are full of "wtf" and "no way that's happening" moments.

I will have to try Elite Dangerous too. This damn comet got me drooling to get into astrophotography. Mindblowing what the current technology can do and what level of detail one can get from even a simple DSLR with a telephoto lens. Long story short, I have my first star tracker on the way. Can't wait to start exploring.

This is from a couple nights ago. It's nothing like what's on social media but I'm proud of it, considering how much light pollution is around where I live.

That's an amazing shot! Great job!

My wife woke up at like 4AM to see it from the roof of our building with binoculars when it was to the north-east. I of course was like "wahhhh blargh" when she tried to wake me up. I wasn't expecting it and don't fully recall the attempt lol.. Tried later on when we had to look west but there's no way with Manhattan to the west to see it. I have a telescope, but it's not nearby it's at the in-laws in PA. I was just looking to buy another one last week hah. Should be a great time! Hope you have a lot of fun times with it.

Still messing around in the game almost every day. Lately I've slowed down with the main story, I feel I'll make my future much better if I spend some time rebuilding roads. It's not tedious, you have to keep doing regular delivery missions to get access to materials... I find the process relaxing. I think I'm about 4 sections away from connecting the two main cities.

I'm a bit worried with Horizon Zero Dawn coming out shortly... I hope I won't neglect Death Stranding too much. I've been always saying, there are just too few hours in a day :)

Is there any fix for the 60 fps cap in cinematics??? It looks pretty choppy compared to the in-game frame rate. I remember reading that Kojima said that this game was intend to be played at 60 fps but it "might" work well at higher frame rates. Maybe that's why cinematics are capped

cut scenes are capped and their is no need need for anything higher than 60...you wont spot the difference since animations are capped

The last new game I played was Shadow of the Tomb Raider; it looks convincing to me with ray-tracing enabled.

But I see the stutter at 60 fps cut scenes. Maybe my eyes are getting use to higher frame rates or maybe the cut scenes were originally rendered at 30 fps and Kojima used some magic software to convert to 60 fps, but the frame rate of cut scenes in this game annoys me
