    At your budget of $1,300, I recommend the Compaq V4000t. You can customize it on www.HPShopping.com. It comes with a 15.4" widescreen and a 128MB X700, which is great for gaming. Be sure to get the Pentium M processor and 5400RPM hard drive for best performance.

    Upgrading the RAM yourself aftermarket is a good idea to save money.

    Thats the one I was looking at, I have a compaq presario r3000 right now, listed at 899$ on the notebook database, but instead of 256 mb, its 512mb and a 60gig hdd. Hopefully I can sell it before I purchase a new one.
