hi guys, im just wondering if anyone has a 1600X with the 128 dedicated memory (like the one in sager's 5750), and how it performs on games like BF2. I really want a decently priced 17" notebook, with a 1600X or Go7600, but am reluctant on the 128, compared to a 1600X/7600 with 256 dedicated. thanks

I would go for a 256MB card if at all possible. The 128MB version is considerably slower; scores about 2800-2900 in 3DMark05, whereas the 256MB X1600 gets around ~3800-4000.

The HP dv8000t is a good choice for a 17".

Very interesting. Your 3DMark05 score lead me to believe that is a 256MB card . . are you sure that is a 128MB? Specifications can change. If you go into the BIOS on startup, you should be able to look through there and find the actual amount of dedicated video memory.

Im running an X1600 256mb here, I got somwhere around 3929 in 3dmark05 with Omega drivers.

I got BF2 to run all high, except some shadows and lighting with frames of 48+ in a Wake Island 32 player, I havent really tried any other maps yet.

And lol, I have my laptop on my lap right now thanks to its suffucient self cooling abilities. :)

i have the 256 version and i thought that bf2 would be laggy, but shockingly it runs buttery smooth with most settings on high with aa off. and my 3dmark05 score is a little over 4200.

I've tried the X1600 with 128MB RAM (Acer 5673WLMi) and scored about 2.8k on 3DM05. With 256MB RAM (Acer 8204WLMi), I score about 4.4k on 3DM05 and a few points shy of 2k on 3DM06.

You can get a HP dv8000t with a Go 7600 w/ 256mb dedicated for good price now. It's configurable, so you can build to suit your needs/budget. I get about 3890 in 3dmark05 and 2250 in 3dmark06 with a slight overclock.
