    Hey, im after a type of game where you have to build a defense, and the more money you get, the more you can build it up - also to perhaps have the ability to play online or something... whats out there? I was wondering if 'Age Of Empires were along these kind of lines?

    Play some Starcraft online. Looks for servers with the name defense in them..

    Ive never played warcraft 3, but as a simple example
    You have a small ammount of money, and you buy a cannon, as you get more money you can either upgrade you existing cannon or buy a new cannon/weapon and you just build up your defense, I was just curious as to whether Age Of Empires uses this kinda of thing in its games

    Oh tower defence types? Warcraft 3 and Starcraft have those kind of maps. Age of Empire is more like, you start with small amounts of resource, you build a bit and make small armies while gathering resource and with those resources you gather, you expand your base and army til you beat your opponent.

    Check videos in youtube for the gameplay videos

    I've never tried it, but there's "Defense Grid: The Awakening" that I saw being sold on Steam.

    At the moment there are no such thing as tower defense vs online player. You can find this types of game easily by just searching google, they are all mostly flash games, but will give you hours of enjoyment.

    The most popular is Desktop tower defense(flash),simple and addictive.

    The be all and end all is to get Warcraft 3 and the expansion set the Frozen Throne. There are thousands of tower defence maps for that game. I have been playing them regularly for like 6 years and still going!

    DotA (a warcraft 3 mod/map) is based around defending towers... you upgrade your person, rather than the towers... DotA rocks :)

    defense grid looks really good i never really did like tower defense games, but that looks exellent.A good strategy game is Civilization, i ve never played it only like an hour but that's not really considred playing in my book.My cousin has them and is pretty much addicted to them, i think that they have online and lan features not sure.You can search gamespot or ign and find more info on them and vids on youtube.
