I bought the vostro 1500 in my sig a while ago, and in the last month or two the graphics card has just failed. I used it for a lot of video games - lots of cs source, wow, the like. Now it can barely get 10fps in world of warcraft. Of course, when I find out about the whole nvidia G86/84 hoo-ha I talk to dell, but of course the 1500 doesn't get an extended warranty.

Even though it's the same card as the 1510 e.t.c, nope no warranty.

So anyway, what do you think is the best idea? Replacement 8600GT from dell? (would that come with its own warranty then?), a (gasp) new laptop?

They said the quote for the new card would be like £200.

Could I rip it off of this and fit it myself?

my card in my sager 2090 failed as well, and im wondering if its worth spending the 320ish dollars to get it repaired or time to start looking for a new laptop. i really dont want to get the card fixed and get another inherently defective card which again fails in a couple months...
