I cureently have a Dell 1501, with a Xpress 1150 graphics card, what graphics card should I buy to play games like Counterstrike:source at max graphic settings? I also have a question, does the card have to be integrated? Does it have to be ATI because my processor is from AMD? Could I use a Nvidia Dedicated graphics card?

    You have a integrated card.
You cannot buy a new card to add to the laptop. It is not designed that way.
Replacing video card is not the same as desktop on notebook, you are limited by the design of notebook and supported hardware.

It does not matter whether you choose ATI or nvidia. integrated or dedicated as you cannot use anything unless you bought the notebook with video card you wanted.

you've been told right, integrated means it's in the motherboard, the only way to take it out would be basically to cut it out, i dont even think its even possible to tell you the truth. the only thing you can probably do is get a new/used computer.

i'm sorry but you can't upgrade an intergrated graphics card. you actually can't upgrade very many at all.

if you could (which you can't), it wouldn't matter what brand. graphics cards are completly different to the cpu in its interface, and as long as the interface is compatible, you can use any graphics cards, regardless of the chip.

There are too many interfaces...many are proprietary too. For instance, Dell uses their own GPU designs for the e1505, e1705...and now a new design for their M1330, and even another design for the 1520 and 1720.

Laptops are not desktops, and the 1501 was only designed with an integrated card...which means there is NO graphics card interface available. The only way to upgrade would to purchase a new computer in this case.

You could look into an external graphics card, i.e. the Asus XG. It should be compatible with the e1501.

So are all of you guys saying that no laptop's graphics card can be upgraded? hc1 can you run games like battlefiled 2 and counterstrike:source, can you run them without lag?

It is not possible to remove the integrated graphics, as it resides in the mainboard chipset's northbridge. You definitely don't want to mess with that. ;)
