I have a 2009 Dell Inspiron 1545 PP41L, and I want to upgrade the processor and graphics card for gaming (Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Battlestar Galactica Online, etc.). I have zero experience in customizing computer hardware, since I never needed it until now. What processors and graphics cards are compatible with my laptop, and what would be the best options for light gaming?

That laptop doesn't come with a separate graphics card, so your only option would be to use an external GPU. This can work because you have an ExpressCard expansion slot. However, building one is something that requires quite a bit of expertise and knowledge.

If I were to buy one, what are the requirements for it to be compatible with my system? And would I also need a better processor to go with the GPU? Games lag horribly right now, and my computer freezes frequently while editing in-game graphics settings.
