    Dell Inspiron 17R gaming potential ?

    My uncle bought me a dell inspiron as a gift but i am waiting for him :
    - 2nd generation Intel Core i3-2310M processor 2.10 GHz
    - 3gb DDR3 ( 2 DIMM )
    - 17.3in HD+ (1600 x 900) LED Display with TrueLife
    - Intel HD Graphics/HD Graphics 3000 with up to 1.6GB Dynamic Video Memory
    - 320gb 5400rpm SATA hdd

    * can i play the games released between 2010 - 2012 smoothly ? ( bfbc2, mw2, crisis 2, gta 4, etc.. )
    * will i have a chance to play battfield 3 - mw 3 etc... and possible 2012 games ?
    * and i have a question not about games - can i watch hd movies smooth ? and what about 1080p i dont have a clue about it

    edit : i have made some research but i wanted to be sure, especially about performance of intel hd 3000. how is it on games ( mainly fps ) ?

    I hate to disappoint you, but The Intel HD 3000 is an integrated graphics card and does not sport as much fire power as a dedicated graphics card. Although you will be able to run 2011-2012 games on it, they will almost certain run on the lowest settings.

    When it comes to movies, you should be able to watch 1080p smoothly.

    opt for the i5/i7 and the nvidia graphic card

    Get it with the Nvidia GeForce GT 525m.
    Wont be the fastest money can buy but then you would need another notebook model.

    A more bang for the buck 17" would be the HP Pavilion Dv7 quad with i7 2630QM and AMD Radeon HD 6770m, at least it is to my understanding.
