    I am thinking of buying a Dell Inspiron 9400 Core2Duo T7200, 2Gb RAM and a 256Mg GeForce 7900 GS.

Would this be capable of running games on a 1920 x 1200 screen?

If I can get this for under £1000 (with a 1 year warranty) is this a good deal?

    Thanks for your help...

yes, i should say so, really good specs and good for the price as far as i no. The 7900 GS is a great card so no problems.

you won't be able to use the highest settings with the 7900gs when gaming at 1920x1200 resolution, you'd probably have to drop down to medium or lower.

you can game at that resolution with high settings with the 7 series gtx models

and that price seems fair, you're using coupons right?

Well, the 7900 GS will have problems at 1920x1200 in some of the latest games. However, you can play them at 1440x900 maxed out, sometimes even at 1680x1050.

Thanks for your comments, thats helpful.

I guess so long as I don't try to run Oblivion/FEAR max detail at 1920*1200 I'll probably be ok.

I can always resort to non-widescreen resolutions to save some horsepower I guess.

As long as you make it a point to get 2 gigs or ram you should be able to run both oblivion and fear at REALLY CLOSE to highest settings if not all the way there. My settings in fear are only a step below highest and I'm running it at 1920x1200 (you can see my lappy in the sig). I can run bf2142 at highest settings at 1920x1200 as well. Of course I DO have my 7900gs overclocked a little bit, but you can always do that as well (the 7900gs has plenty of head room for overclocking, PLENTY).

Agreed with all the above posts - I'm running mine on the 24" Dell LCD and while gaming I can run at the native res but drop it down a little to get better and less jittery frame rates.
