I am looking to buy a laptop to replace my desktop. The main reason for doing so would be to travel to more lan tournaments that feature a BYOC. I also tend to go to my friends house to play a lot of matches for various leagues at his house, due to the connection and the food (lol). So what I basically need for this laptop to do is be able to run Counter-Strike:Source with decent image quality while recording. The reason I am worried is because with my current desktop my frames drop 10% when I record. This isn't a factor since I have a good gaming desktop. I will enclose my specifications at the bottom. If any of you play Counter-Strike:Source and have recorded, or just know that it will handle Counter-Strike:Source fine, then let me know.

    Desktop:
    Intel Pentium D 915 Presler 2.8GHz
    1 GB @ 667MHz
    200GB 7,200RPM HDD
    x1800XL 256MB
    Windows XP Professional SP2

    Laptop:
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T5600 (2MB Cache/1.83GHz/667MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife™
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
    80GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
    256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS

The Dell Inspiron e1705 would be perfect, though I don't think it's that much better than your desktop. Still, its easier lugging the Dell beast over to lan parties as opposed to the desktop lol.....

You shouldn't have that big of drop with the new Core2 in fps. That is one drawback of the Pentium D, the mult thread part of it isnt that good. I would go say go for it. Also, a suggestion on your desktop. Couldn't you upgrade to a 950 or 960? It would give you a boost but not like Core2 would.
