Hello all - I'm currently reviewing my options concerning the best laptop available for my move southwards.

I've ruled out the M17x and M18x for good for the time being and are now left with the following.
Basically which has the greatest future potential for gaming and emulation.

    Alienware M14x R1 (Currently Own)
    Core i5-2430m (3.0Ghz Turbo)
    Gt 555m Overclocked

    Dell Xps 15 L502x
    Core i7-2620 (3.4Ghz Turbo)
Gt 525m Overclocked - Effectively a GT 550m and beyond.

    Alienware M11x R3
    Core i7-2637m (2.8Ghz Turbo)
    Gt 540m Overclocked
I understand the M11x is the weakest but it's portability in my opinion makes up for that.

I'm not too keen on the M14x's Keyboard hence why I reviewing others.
Please note that the current 3rd Gen and Kepler GPU's are either too expensive or do not feature a 3 year warranty (Essential).

I would rule out the M11x R3. It not as strong as the others and too small, in my opinion, to game on, but idk how important portability is to you.

I'd probably stick with the M14x that you own already as changing to a l502x is not really an upgrade/worth the price. Both cpus in the alienware and dell are dual core and i think you can OC the m14x cpu, so i'd vote sticking with the alienware m14x.

Thanks for the swift response - I appreciate it.

The M11x R3 is weaker, however it is lighter and the screen size doesnt bother me, the 3G option is also highly attractive.

The i7-2637m is like 10-15% slower than the i5-2430m and the GPU is stronger than the XPS 15. I wouldn't means the weakest laptop in the bunch.

For gaming (which is GPU heavy), the m14x>m11x>XPS 15
For emulation (which is CPU heavy), XPS 15>m14x>m11x

So it depends on what you want more. If the m14x and XPS only have 768p screens, I wouldn't bother with them because that means they're just unnecessarily big without any other advantages.
