    Hiya,

I have an ASUS g1 which I use a lot to play world of warcraft. I've just got a new laptop from work, a Dell d430 U7700 (dual 1.33) with 2gb of ram and an SSD.

I apologise if this is a stupid question, but can I put a gfx card in it and would it be good enough to play WoW on basic settings? I'm guessing probably not. However if I could if any could recommend a gfx card that would be great.

Thanks in advance for any help

Yes, it would. Do a search for WOW+GMA950 on these forums - not the best of experiences, but sufficient for those who have to make do. :)

If there is a way in which one can play a trial game just for a little bit, I would be willing to give it a shot and let you know.

I'm a little strapped on RAM for the moment as I'm waiting for my other 1GB stick, but I can give you a fairly good idea.

Oh, and there is no way to put any kind of GPU in it...its the U7700 and the GMA 950 dude.

you CANNOT upgrade gfx cards 99.9% of the time, there's only a few laptops that are "user upgradeable". Plus you have an igp, which is soldered onto the motherboard.

The D430 is incredibly small...even if you could upgrade the chassis wouldn't support the additional heat or power requirements :p.

If you can point to a trial install for WoW, I'll give it a shot and see what I can get for you. I happen to own the same exact laptop you are considering.

I'm using an iPod touch so there's no copy or paste, but if you google: wow trial, the first link has a 10 day trial with sign up.

just turn down all graphics, put in windowed mode and a lower resolution, dont use any addons, and lower the fpx by doing
    /console maxfps 20
