Okay i want to buy the dell inspiron e1505 but i have a few questions.

    Customized Specs
    • Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5600 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB)
    • 15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™
    • 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm
    • 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory™
    • 120GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive

    Questions
    1. Will my video card be able to run battlefield 2 and CS:S on Highest Settings?
    2. Is my screen to small for a hardcore gamer? Because i was considering the e1705 but i think 17'' is to big.
    3. For $80 is it a good deal to upgrade to a 100gb 7200rpm HD?

1.)CS:S yes. BF2: not on high settings, but you can play. More memory might help.
2.) No, screen size is personal preference. The 7900gs is much, much stronger than the x1400.

the 7200 would make loading times and stuff faster... its really just if you rather have a bigger hard drive or a slightly faster one

Will 1gb of RAM be enough or should i upgrade to 2gb?
And if i upgrade should i do it through dell or upgrade it myself?

unless there is a dell deal for a free memory upgrade i would say no, just make sure you get the 1 stick of 1gb of ram, so you can later buy a 1gb stick yourself. Also 2gb is needed for playing bf2 or bf2142, its a real pig on ram.

You can buy RAM aftermarket remember. And yes, BF2 and BF2142 do show a very nice increase going from 1 to 2 GB of ram. I tested it with two 533MHz 1GB sticks in my Inspiron 6400.

Regarding the harddrive, remember that the faster HDD will NOT increase your FPS.

Right; the hard drive only affects your loading time. The hard drive choice is up to you - more storage, slower speed, and less money, OR less storage, faster speed, and more money.
You don't have to upgrade to 2GB, no, but it would help your performance. The latest games need 1GB at a minimum so thus having more is an advantage.
What I would suggest doing is getting the minimum from Dell, then picking up a 1GB module aftermarket. The E1505 takes 200-pin, DDR2-667 (PC5300) SO-DIMM RAM. Check www.Newegg.com.

It can also take DDR2-533. Depending on the prices you find, it may be better value for money to get the slightly slower ram, especially when the E1505 is not a high end system.
