    Depends on the TV...

If it's standard def, then S-Video will work ok.

If it's high def, then use HDMI / DVI...or VGA if the TV has that input.

Yeah more more or less what justanormalguy said. You can buy DVI to HDMI cables if your tv has an HDMI port. Keep in mind that this is video only and not sound. However, i think the 1720 only has vga, which means you will need to buy some type of converter unless you have a high def tv with a vga port.

Yeah 1080i only refers to an analog signal, which is what vga is anyway. Just make sure you have a vga port on your tv, which you most likely do if its an hd tv and you should be able to plug it in just like a big monitor. The 1720 has both a vga out and a s-video out. S-video wont look as good as vga, but your tv should defiantly have one so that should be your second choice. Again same thing with s-video its just like adding a monitor.

Are you using your 360 one an inspiron?

Also, does the 1720 have VGA out...if it does I would have to return the cable I ordered and get which one? VGA to DVI?

Do you need to do anything to the insprion 1720 to make the vga output work. I have a cord and connected it to the tv and the laptop and on the tv it says mode not support, but then if I d/c the cords it says no signal so it has to recognize the laptop, just not sure what's wrong with it :(
