I'm running 174.16 and it kicks the stock driver's ass, to put it quite simply.

I'm also OCing it (not recommended, although it runs cooler for me OC'd than some people's runs stock, so that's sweet), so it performs right around what the GDDR3 version was supposed to.

Don't you think this should go in the gaming forum? And also...it's very annoying when people make very general threads like "vostro 1500...." How about something like "8600GT driver question" or something along those lines, doesn't that seem more rational to you? There are all kinds of threads on this, try searching.

Yeah thanks IM ALL IN, I really am not good with forums. I guess thats why I struggle in school, because I dont know exactly how to ask my teachers questions when not understanding material. :( I tried searching but going back to my lack of the right questions I fail at that :|

Smokey isnt that discrpitive so if you can, post a screen shot of the problem as well what your temperatures are( look at this guide to see how to monitor temps).

If you are overclocking your GPU, then set it back to stock speeds(its easier to narrow down the problem whe you have less variables). Also look at the Cooling guide(heat is the enemy #1 for GPUs).

There is no such thing as best drivers. From LV2go, people recommend the 169 series(169.04 or 169.09) and I believe the 17x series. If you dont know how to use the modded INF, look at the sticky in the gaming forum.

BTW, your thread has been moved.
