Is the card more than enough to handle WoW? barely enough? My friend says he hears clicking sounds from the hard drive or fan or something. Is that just a laptop problem?

Yes, the 8600m GT ddr3 can play wow at max settings at whatever native resolution your xps's screen has (probably 1280x800)

A 1530 can play WoW piece of cake.
