This is graphics card related so im posting here because this gets more traffic as well as in the dell xps section. i am using a dell xps l701 with a gt 435m and a core i5 m 460, and the duplicate display function for dual screens does not work. i have tried pretty much everything and its still not working. Thanks in advance for the help.

Ok well since no one has taken a stab, from what i have gathered it is essentially impossible to do this, so you have to use the mini display port. if i "complain" to dell i bet i could convince them to send a mini display port to hdmi adapter for free. if anyone could confirm that this would fix the issue that would be awesome.

Did you order directly from Dell or other retailers such as the abomination known as Best Buy?

If its from the former, then contact dell and they should be able to help you with the hdmi

Its not my laptop, but i don't think that best buy sells xps so it was probably through dell. regardless it was bought in February and it is still under warranty so i should be able to haggle them into sending an adapter for free.
