hey im starting college then too....dont play video games while you're at college...it will make you more depressed if you stay in your room all day and play games (well, i guess an occasional game is okay). itd even be better to just go to the library and read a book.

Uni already started for me, 3 days of non stop lectures, then 4 days off heh...

Just close your eyes, take a deep breath and just think of what you get for university. Friends, activities, and of course, knowledge :)

Try and hang out with friends(or meet new friends at school clubs and hangouts), study a bit, do homework, do assignments/essays. Games, sure, and like all good things, take it in small amounts!

Pretty much, plan ahead, and plan often.

Best of luck in University :)

Apart from everything else, try playing *different* games. I mean, if you only play "Realistic squad-based shooting games", you've essentially killed off any variety you might experience already. Why not just go back and play the same games again then? Over and over and over.....?

Other than that, how do you expect people on a random internet forum to cure your depression? The best way to not get depressed is to do stuff. You'll have to pick the stuff you prefer doing. Can't help you there.

Start playing an MMORPG. You'll never be bored a day in your life. You won't have a life to be bored of however.

What Uni do you go too?
I'm in Miami and I go to FIU. A lot of fit birds there.
As far as video games, TFC, CounterStrike, BF2 are pretty good.
However, man...there's so much to see here and some many people to do I don't know how you can be depressed.

You guys all suck. I started the new semester on August 21. And I'm in an accelerated program for engineering and have to go to summer school. My last day of summer classes was July 21. So yeah.

Hey, you made the choice to be smart, stop complaining.

I'm in the University of Waterloo School of Architecture in Cambridge, Ontario.

I'm not complaining. I'm merely commenting on the paradox of others complaining about starting college almost two weeks from now when just about everyone I know in my state has been in college for 2-4 weeks. Yes, it is my choice to be here all summer, but it doesn't make it any less crappy. I also have a choice to get up at 7:00 in the morning or sleep through class, but if I didn't make that choice I would be failing out of college. And who are you to say that I'm necessarily smart? Everyone in this engineering program has to do the same thing regardless of whether they're 'smart' or not.

locking yourself in a room playing games all the time is going to be counter productive, right now I really wish I had much less time to spend in front of the computer, I ruptured two discs in my back, and havent been able to work, walk, or sit for more than 10 minutes at a time for the past three months, and that gets old pretty quick, get out and have some fun, the real world can be much more entertaining than a virtual one, though not always as conveinent

xbox live is a mixture of the real world and virtual one because those are REAL buttfaces screaming at you, not AI. i always find my face hurting after playing online because of the immaturity and rudeness. great fun, always cheers me up :)

Shouldn't you be looking forward to university and not dreading it? University is a time to party, have a good time and do a little studying on the side. Its the one time you are free of any real responsability at all and should be one of the best times of your life. Stop worrying about the work and think about the good times ahead, sure you have to do some work but nothing compared to what you'd be doing in a full time job.
