Desktop 6600GT 128MB DDR3 notebook equivalent?

I used to have a 6600GT in my desktop and I loved that card, ran everything I threw at it at comfortable settings (for me.) So I'm thinking when I get a new laptop what card would be a somewhat equivalent to this (in todays laptops, not something from years ago) a 8400m GT?

the 8400m is way better than 6600
and even better still is 8600m gt

I would go with an 8600m GT for any gaming performance.

BTW, a desktop 6600 GT is as good as or better than an 8400m GS. Just so that you know and stop spreading incorrect information.

 

Back then the 6600GT was a great card. I don't know what you guys are talkin bout!

 

Thanks for the laughs...and I'm thinking if there is a cheaper laptop I can get with a dedicated card, which would give similar performance to my old desktop. My question has been answered so thank you.

If I'm correct, the notebook 6600 was about on par with the 8400m gs so the desktop 6600 should be equivalent to the 8400m gt.

 

The 6600GT still has a bit more raw power than the 8400M GS. Still the 8400 isn't a bad card whatsoever.

It was hard finding multiple benches for the 8400m GS so I had to stoop to notebookcheck, though they did run the test many, many times.

Also remember, the 6600 GT is running with a P4 and only 1 GB of RAM.

 

Nope. A 6600 GT is no where near a 8600M GT. My card is at least 4 times faster in 3DMark05 (may not translate to real-world performance).

 

user ratings are almost better... they actually tell how people feel about the performance IN REAL LIFE settings..

not benchmarks which are scaled so that you can see changes. a benchmark score of 2000 and an other of 2200.. most often does not mean the 2200 performs better.

and gpureview also shows specs side by side..

 

Really? Because I just clicked all zeros for the 6600 and all 10's for the 8400, without ever having to even register for the site.

Granted benchmarks aren't everything, but they give a good idea of the performance of the cards without having to run every game and taking framerate readings.
