Anand's review is out, and it's looking good for performance/power usage. Here's to hoping the mobile variants follow soon. Going by the numbers, midrange should be able to match 6970m performance at much less power.

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Hope they stick with MXM 3.0b with competitive pricing on Wimbledon's when it comes out like they did with the 6970M and 6990M's.

Looks great, id trade my dual 5870 setup for a single 7970.
Id lose performance but for the type of gaming I do (5940x1200) the single card with higher memory would serve me better. -
Wow! Good to see AMD's GPU department kicking butt.
-
Now we wait for nvidia to kick their butts.
Hopefully. -

Lets see if I still feel that way when I get off work, if its like yesterday the second I get off work suddenly I want to go straight to bed. -
It's looking really excellent across the board!
Very happy with my choice not to buy 6990m yet. -
The 7870 and 7850 are the ones which will matter to us.

Don't need this but must... resist... urge...

The real question is how long does it take for AMD to make mobile GPUs out of the desktop models...
How does it work btw? Do they concentrate on making the desktop GPUs first, and THEN start designing a mobile GPU? Or are they made separately but at the same time?
According to this site Alienware have a driver with 7970M mentioned -
just give me the performance level of a desktop 6970 and I'm good
-
Yes it all looks and sounds good but the big question is "but will it blend?"
Desktop 7970 review is out... could be important for mobile as well.
