In my desktop I am sadly still using a GeForce 4 ti4400 128mb video card... My question is: I am looking to replace my desktop for school and I want a computer with MUCH better graphics performance. Which newer laptop graphics solutions will satisfy me? I want to play modern games such as Oblivion, BF2, Bioshock when it comes out, etc....

How big of a laptop do you want to carry? The top graphics card you can get in a 14" is a GeForce Go 7700, you can get 7600's in a 15.4" (Asus will release some 7700's in a 15.4" soon), otherwise to play all the modern games at high res, you'll be looking at needing a 7900GTX/GS in a 17" or larger laptop. I'd recommend (especially for school) you consider the Asus A8JP or a Compal HGL-30, something very portable but still a pretty good gaming machine.

Hmm. I am a double major in CS and Math and I would only need to take it to class every once in a while to show my prof projects (if i have any questions) and to take it home over holidays. So, it wont be leaving my desktop much. I was HIGHLY considering the M570U because I can get a 7950GTX in there. Also, Go 7600's or 7700's OCed seem to score pretty high on benchmarks but I can't seem to find anything that compares fps and stuff between a 7700 and a 7950 GTX. if there was only around 10 fps different or something I would go for the more portable longer battery life without question.

7950 would give more than 10fps and even more.. If u just need shear power, go for the 7950.

I spent some time looking into BioShock (sounds like an interesting story) but I wasn't able to find any official system requirements. I'd say at the very least get a laptop with at least a nvidia 7600 or ati x1600. Pitabred already listed some choices for you.

When are you going to purchase this laptop?

Probably going to get it this christmas. Was looking into the Artorius Pro (can get a nice black paint job for 99 dollars) T7200 2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2 Gigs ram 667, Geforce Go 7950 GTX 512, 100 gig 7200 RPM HDD all with a 3 year warranty for around 3000.

yeah i'd say go for a 17inch, you seem to have the cash for it and you won't be carrying it around all the time

anybody seen an M570U with a black paint job? (not graphics ora nything just black) I am wondernig what this will look like because I don't care for the silver and black default look (it reminds me of putting ivory colored Optical drives in a black case) Also, I may be getting myself into a little too much with this question, but is it possible to change the touch pad to an aluminum one so it doesn't wear down? Also, is the touchpad on an M570U smooth or rough?

wow that looks pretty awsome. I read reviews on vigor on resellerratings and everyone said their paintjobs were "automotive" quality so I assume i'll be getting something similar to that in terms of a black notebook. haha i want it now!

I'd suggest getting a m5760 sager. It's top of the line right now.

Isn't that armor from Diablo 2? Also, isn't that one of the most duped armors from Diablo 2? Finally, didn't that sell for like, hundreds or thousands of dollars on Ebay?
