Fallout I and II! Best rpgs of all-time, though they're pretty old (and turn-based).
Icewind Dale I and II is good too (similar to Baldur's Gate).
Also NWN2 is a lot better than NWN1, though the system reqs are way too high.

"Elder scrolls: Oblivion". possibly the best RPG out right now, if you computer can handle it that is. The scenery in it on max details and full view distance are so amazing. There's also WOW i'm not a big fan of it though, just that whole pay per month thing kinda turns me off of it.

Titan Quest if you're a Diablo fan, Jade Empire if you liked Star Wars KOTOR, then there's Neverwinter Nights 2.

I second Titan Quest for Diablo fans; it practically IS Diablo.

I actually recommend Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, a sort of hybrid RPG/FPS. While it lacks the depth of Oblivion, I find it to be more visually appealing and frankly, just more fun. It also doesn't needlessly tax your system quite as badly as Oblivion does.

I've also been enjoying the heck out of Guild Wars. While I don't think it's as good as World of Warcraft, I appreciate the faster pace, the art is a nice change from WoW's heavily stylized fantasy, and that whole "no monthly fee" thing really tips it over the edge for me.

I would say Oblivion. Just picked up the other day I am hooked. Only hear because I needed to take a short break from playing.

Try Jade Empire Special Edition, it has just been released to PC's. I'm also a big fan of BG 1 & 2, i've had BG2 for like 5 years and i still haven't finished it.. :D But Jade Empire is simply put, amazing. A great break from the "usual" fantasy stuff.

Without wanting to go off the path too much, I have always been bothered by this mod

It basically makes it a whole different game  I get Oblivion has a "level scaling" system so enemies are around the same as you and this mod returns it to the traditional level-up system. But wasn't that intentional in the 1st place? Regardless I think when I do get around to starting a game, I will try both for myself

The level scaling ruins it IMO; that's why I used that mod.

You can go in at level 1 and be champion of the arena; hell if you rush the main quests, you'll be beating up demons at like level 3. It's just ridiculous; there's no danger, you can wander off anywhere knowing you won't have to fight anything much stronger than you.
Also, the loot scales as well; as long as you're low level, you might find the coolest, most heavily guarded chest in a secret dungeon and get a crappy bronze sword in it. And by the time you get high level, theres bandits wandering around in glass armor with magical weapons.

I really like Guild Wars. Quests work well on your own, or with others. I also like not having a monthly subscription!

Ya well first, it does entirely change the game in a serious way

the oblivion and elder scrolls theme is you can do anything in any order.

This mod makes it so you have to handle some quests early and some you cant do until later.

Like you may go to a cave and one room in its woooah, i aint supposed to be messing with these things ill come back later.
and when youre level 17, u can sneeze on a goblin and it dies.

ITS SO MUCH BETTER. You can do the main quest slowly as you raise in levels.
You would get so sick sooooo sick of just doing the same fight over and over and over and over again you would quit playing eventually just from that. With this mod you have fights where u can walk through an army unscathed, and then fights that are like a real real difficult challenge where you need to be pedal to the metal.

Youll have to start a new game with the mod to do it.

I also recomend sentient weapon mod as a personal favorite, dremora companion and the legacy are good added quests.

    I did not like Oblivion.

If people remember -- I ripped that bad boy out of the drive and threw it across

    the room.

And for pretty good reason IMHO.

Good RPG? Outside of Square I'm not sure.

Get a copy of FF6 for SNES.

    A joy to play.

Final Fantasy 7, was...amazing, for me anyways. Maybe I just associate it with fun times. It's pretty old, but I just love that game. Also, you could look into Elder Scrolls Morrowind GOTY edition. It's 20 dollars and contains the original Morrowind with Bloodmoon and Tribunal. There are also a ton of mods online that can tweak visuals and even add new quests and such. You could play that for literally a week straight and not do everything. Just some recommendations, neither of those games are graphic intensive, so that might be a plus for you depending on your specs.

    I suggest :
-For new and easy to play RPG: Titan quest and its expansion Immortal throne. Gameplay is easy, but very addict and fun. I highly recommend this. Also this game dont require alot hardware power
-For new and classis gameplay RPG: Never Winternight 1 and 2. I like 1 better than 2. NWN2 is also a system hog, so much compare to NWN1.
-For old RPG: many great games like Fallout 1 and 2. Final Fantasy 7 and 8, Diablo 2.
I dont like 1st person RPG so I dont know much about them, but oblivion get mention alot :)

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, # 1 (BiowWare) not the sequel (rip off by Obisidion). My favourite RPG by far, great story and very well done overall.

I myself plan to try Oblivion tonight and see how it goes, I've had it sitting on my desk for weeks but I've just been so busy. But definitely give KOTOR a try if you haven't, its a v v good game :)
