After i started playing it yesterday, i imediatly fell in love with it. Unique gameplay, captivating story and absolutely incredible graphics (pretty well optimized). It's now 2nd in my all-time favorite top 5 games, after dragon age origins, and i haven't even finished it.
Just wanted to see if there's other people with the same opinion, i only saw threads comaplaining about it's DRM, threads about how good "a fps game" is, but i haven't seen a thread to applaud this one. Ubisoft did a really good job on this one, comparing to the 1st one (didn't enjoy that at all).

I won't buy it on any system due to the DRM on the only system I'd ever want to play it on.

It doesn't matter how good the game is when they treat their paying customers like common criminals.

Their DRM has cost them at least one customer who would have bought the game. Also, they have lost me permanently on any game they make for ANY system until they mend their ways.

Piracy = supposed lost potential customers who never pay for anything
    DRM = lost PAYING customer(s)

The game has been cracked wide open and is 100% playable offline. However, why should legit paying customers have to resort to such methods. I am sure you realise that many cracks have malicious hidden code in them too so regardless of how savvy you are, you still put your computer and personal data and privacy at risk from using them.

You paid for a game that you can't even use when you are away from home unless you can find a decent connection or pay for one.

Since buying this game sends out the message that the 24/7 online DRM they used is acceptable, I simply did not buy it. I don't want to see this highly inconvenient and restrictive method of DRM being used in the future for more games regardless of whether it gets cracked or not (and it will).

Despite the lack of an engine, my friends car is perfect.

arround 27 fps on medium settings and native res, no AA and no vsync, sometimes it gets to 20 when im on horse but the character control seems smooth even then
btw i just got into my 1st bug :)
in the basilica di san marco tomb i can't use that skull to open the sarchopagus
i googled it and seems other people had the same problem, so they suicided jumping from somewhere high or restarted the game
i restarted the game and completed the entire puzzle 4 times, i just can't get that damned skull to work :|

Yeah, see the problem is that I refuse to be held hostage by their DRM. If their computers go down, I can't play. If I'm away from the Internet, I can't play. If my wireless signal fades for a minute, I can't play. If hackers take down their servers, I can't play.

    Get the point?

AC2 was at the top of my list of games to buy, now it never will be.

It seems every new release from Ubisoft from now on will be using the new DRM, the recently release Settles 7 is also a decent game in its own right but the same cursed DRM system is going to keep a lot of potential buyers away just like AC2.

At least I'm not the only one who thinks some of the reviews of the game weren't completely biased and focused solely on the game's draconian DRM.

Every AC2 thread that doesn't involve DRM, derails and goes right to the DRM topic...

    So, back on topic!

I loved this game, too. The music by Jesper Kyd is absolutely amazing. It's probably his best work yet. I also enjoyed "The Truth" puzzles. What a mind $#$# that was. Best thing about combat was stabbing people in the back while they were fighting someone else. So dishonorable, and yet so funny.

I'm also really glad that I played this on PC and never touched a watered down console version. I love my super high graphics settings!

It's definately a good game. I was a little offended by some of the suggestions the game made about certain historical figures, but it's just a game and I didn't let it affect my enjoyment of it.

I played it on a console to experience it, good game, just a real shame that they've DRM'd it to death on the PC.
This level of DRM (I don't mind SOME DRM) just hurts/causes issues for the everyday consumer.

Its like taking the wheels off my car because Im get a puncture! It kinda works, but it does more damage in the long run!

I was thinking about getting it till I heard about the DRM. At which point I forgot totally about it. Absurd internet required DRM is BS. And NO, STEAM can work in offline mode (before someone brings this one up).

Does anyone have a saved file for the game? I was on the interlude between sequence 6 and 7 when my game crashed and the save file got corrupted. Yay.
I seriously don't want to replay 20 hours of the game...

I wouldn't be too sure about that. AC2 has already sold in excess of 8 million copies. That puts it squarely in bestselling game territory. How many other games can claim to have sold better than AC2 has?

Perhaps more importantly, how many single-player games have sold as well as AC2 has? The Sims comes to mind, but I can't recall any other single-player game that has hit this figure.

I'm personally not really a fan of DRM myself, but I actually think this sort of DRM isn't that bad. I see it as being fairly analogous to playing an MMO. Except, of course, that you aren't actually playing with anyone else, but hey...

Lovely, 8M copies have sold? Then Ubisoft is going to keep pushing this DRM on the consumer.

Not to mention that means that 8M people (give or take) either do not care that they are being steam rolled over, or do not know.

Not exactly, the 8M should include the 360 and PS3 sales. It would be interesting how many copies they were able to sell on PC (both physical and digital copies).

...And that is basically the root of the issue. I am fine with DRM methods, but making a single player to be like an MMO is simply too far, no matter how good the game is. And especially since this issue is only for PC, the 360 or PS3 haven't such requirements.

BTW did anyone mention that AC2 is a DX9 console port?

It seems DX9 port trend is heavily CPU dependent because it's so badly optimized for PC.

AC2 is no exception to this. Even if you have a HD4650 your GPU will not be used 100%, but if you have issues, may want to check your CPU.

    Stupid console ports...

I agree with this i would have liked to buy this game but im always moving arround on my laptop what if i wanted to play the game say on a train journey where i could not get an internet connection let alone a stable connection?

This form of DRM is too extreme even for the paying legitimate customers and infact i think it forces ppl more to download and take their chances with a cracked version that can prolly run fully offline than have restrictions i.e cannot play without a connection, or worst case scenario the server crashes meaning u can't play at all till fixed etc..

I bought this game for PS3 long before the DRM debacle was revealed. I'd have to say it is much better than the first game but I still managed to get a little bored with it.

I also found the controls to be kind of sloppy on PS3. Sometimes Ezio's path would go in a completely different direction than what I was directing with my controller. Also I just never seem to fully understand the assassination mechanic, like I would sneak up on a guy push L1 (or whatever it is) and the Assassinate option wouldn't show, other times it did, it felt very inconsistent? My hardware is all new since December so it's not old controller syndrome.

The music is indeed fantastic. I have the OST in the car and on my iPod and love it to death, lol. Of course I am a big soundtrack geek to start with but this game's music really is exceptional. Well done Jesper Kyd!

Overall it is a good game with many hours of open world murder simulator to enjoy but if I was looking forward to this on PC I would skip it simply because of the DRM... and there are lots of good games without such restrictions to deal with.

I started with the first one and it is enjoyable. I think it is important to be able to fully appreciate the intricate plot and story in the first one before I start on the second one. By the time I am done with the first one, this one may have no DRM.

well of course it depends on the res you want to run it in.
at 1280x720, which i consider the bare minimum for todays game, it will run like crap.
if you dont mind gaming at 960x678 or something like that then youll prob get playable rates at med settings.
this is based on my experience with ac1 and i believe ac2 is a little more of a resource hog.

on a side note, i dont think im getting ac2 with this crazy drm.
