Just wanted to start a thread on this. The beta has been amazing so far. Cant wait till the game comes out in October. Optimized well and very little bugs so far. Glad to see Bungie getting back into the PC market.

It looks very nice the first mission was amazing and the strike was up to par. Unfortunately the real downside to its predecessor was the limited strike and raid options and that was even on ps4 which got an extra strike. With destiny 2, ps4 will again get an extra strike and other content that will not come to pc for at least a year after release. Also the game will only have 1 raid at launch and while the open world has been buffed a bit in terms of medium/late game being more worthwhile, it is still just a grind for chests and a few small areas whos charm will wear off after the initial visit. The content will be quality but will quickly become grindy unless you focus on every aspect pve and pvp.
I will still play it because I loved the original and due to it being a quality option in a niche that is kindof lacking right now but I don't expect it to be the huge world that we all wanted with the first one.
Also nvidia is slacking on fixing gsync on laptops with external monitors in their drivers. The destiny optimised drivers wont work for gsync and laptops with external monitors untill nvidia fixes it and it has been months now. -
I played thru the first part of the campaign. Gunplay and controls worked really well for me, something that surprised me. Quite often "something is not right" and the feel is wrong. GR Wildlands was a good example: I didn't buy the game because in the beta the feeling of the controls wasn't good enough.
Steady 60fps with i7-4790 and GTX970 combo, default graphics settings.
I wonder how is the PVE/Solo endgame play. -
Yeah I tested it out pretty thoroughly and when you hit a headshot it registers correctly even with a fast twitch and network lag. If you line it up and hit it on your screen it registers which is nice. The Netcode and hit detection is on point.

the beta is quite nice even for older rigs. my gtx 870m can still play decently and the game looks amazing, so vibrant

I would be curious to see what people are running for spec and the stats versus their FPS, and overall experience.
Although for transitioning a console game to PC and accounting for the changes in hardware, I've heard some positive things so far! -
The beta has been fun but I couldn't stick to it long with only one PVE mission. Can't honestly say i'll pick up the full game because it seems there's a bigger focus on PVP. It runs extremely well and with a mix and high I can stay at over 100fps.

i played the beta and understand what some of you are talking about, it was very well optimised, looked great but i uninstalled it after 40 mins and scratched it off my list......just had a strange feeling with it
-
ok so ive been thinking about it some more, that strange feeling........
so i think the game has its feet in two different doorways, its trying to be a fps with competitive pvp, its trying to be a mmo style loot grind rpg, but not really committing to either enough for me to see real value in it.
it looks all blingy, its shiny and new, runs like a dream, but just under the surface im not sure its going to offer anything unique enough i cant get more of in other games, if i want a fps pvp...well there is an abundance to choose from, if a want a mmo.....again lots of choice there......nothing about the game makes me say ohhh hey now that's a cool idea that's why i want to play this game.
for once i think i was able to see through the hype, to think about what was on offer and unfortunately for myself it hasn't impressed enough to buy it. -
I only wished the pvp mode would be similar to their previous series, Halo (multiplayer section). PvE is pretty much what I expect from MMOs these days, but competitive needs some work.

I think i've sampled all the areas available in the PC beta, so i went to play uncharted the lost legacy instead.

Its also part of a lineage of games that were great on console. The core mechanics of mobilty aiming enemies abilities etc were all designed for the best experience with a controller. If halo and these games were made for pc first some things would be different. Overwatch for example has amazing mobility, abilities, and physics for mouse and keyboard.
Where destiny really shines on pc is the enemy animations, ai, crit system, and level design. Unfortunately they don't really have to do much else to exceed all the other options right now for a pve fps. I love the graphics and such of games like doom but I am a true gamer. And the core mechanics and game design are what really make a game fun and replayable. Im sure it will get old fast due to the limited content but its still worth my while. -

I'd be kinds happy for more of the same just to start out, I did like the environment and overall look/feel of D1, and that would be a good jumping off point.hmscott likes this.
