I was in the mood for one of my favorite games today so I dug out my Deus Ex CD and installed it on my Hel80. To my dismay it doesn't run well at all. The animated stuff in the beginning (before the menu) is really jumpy and I can't get the menu to come up at all. Has anyone had any luck running this game on a more modern machine. I remember playing it fine on my desktop about a year ago and it has about the same specs as my laptop (a little better even). Safemode is even worse.

Deus Ex is one of those games that never run well on anything.

It was coded for a console and that killed it.

Sure you're not thinking of DX2?
The original game was definitely a PC game first and foremost.

Try running it under Win95/98 compatibility mode. Just go into the properties of the .exe file you are launching the game with, and find it under the compatibility options. Assuming you are using XP of course.

Deus Ex 2 was a nightmare on my tower... and my tower is capable of playing games like HL2 on medium-high. I played a bit of Deus Ex, I didn't like it too much, but I truly enjoyed playing Project Snowblind, which is from the same creator I believe.

Deus Ex was definitely a PC first. Never played it on PC though.

You definitely have to use the compatibility feature. I ran it on my computer without any difficulties with compatibility on a little while ago.
