    G'day guys
I recently purchased a clevo p150em with the gtx 675mx, i bought deus ex human revolution off steam for a steal.
im just having issues with performance, im running at 1920*1080 with mostly all options turned off, fraps says im getting high fps (around 70) but it seems like it stutters a lot and when u look around everything looks jagged and goes back to normal when you stop moving.. (i do apologize about my explanations, first time laptop gamer here :) )
it just seems strange cause i can run witcher 2 on almost ultra and it runs smooth as.. Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Regards
    Robert

Its an issue with DX11 for that game. There are a few workarounds to fix it, but the easiest way is to just switch to DX9

Sorry for sounding like the ultimate noob. But how do u go back to direct x 9,,? And what if I wanna play a game that needs Dx11, do I need to keep going back and forth between the two?

I had the same problem running Deus Ex HR on my GTX 660M and I discovered that it has to do with your GPU being Nvidia among other things. I was getting 60 FPS on high settings but was experiencing micro stutter in some areas. I made a change in the registry that helped to improve things.

I also increased the refresh rate of my external monitor from 60Hz to 72Hz, although you probably won't have this option. My Asus monitor supports up to 79Hz. I only mention it because it made a big difference going from 60 to 72 and made everything more smooth. This is with VSync and Tripple Buffering both turned on. I have it now to the point that it isn't unbearable to play.

Click START and in the search programs and files box type "regedit". Your computer will display a prompt, hit yes. I would advise first saving the registry in case you accidentally change or edit anything besides the key above. You do this by first selecting the folder or subfolder that you want to save (or computer to save everything) and then going to file/export. I save mine in My Documents and identify or name them by date and folder.

After that you navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HR folder (not graphics or controls) and select it on the file tree. In the right section of the window you will see various options listed with their values. Right click on D3D11_CREATE_DEVICE_PREVENT_INTERNAL_THREADING_OPT IMIZATIONS (the third from the top) and select modify. Change the value data from 1 to 0 and select ok. This will improve the stutter quite a bit, although it won't totally resolve it. I experience it a little in large open areas still despite these changes. The troubling part is that Edios is very aware of this issue and they have done nothing to help people like us out. I always have the option to play it on PS3, but I prefer using the mouse and keyboard for some games and my save games obviously won't transfer between platforms. Hope this helps a bit. Let me know if you have trouble saving or editing the registry.

I'm sorry, change it to 1. I was looking at my registry and got it mixed up.

the micro stutter is bearable, even though im getting 60fps.
was screen tearing an issue for you as well?

I experienced exactly what you're noticing.

Are you on Windows 7 or 8?

I'm on Window 7 with a 680m. I'm still on the 302.92 drivers which is overall still the best for me, especially with BF3 where the stuttering/choppiness is very apparent even with vsync occurs in later drivers. I've tried so many subsequent drivers beta or whql without any success I just ended up sticking with the 9/26/12 Sager/Clevo drivers. Plus, I saw GPU usage fluctations with my GPU overclock with vsync off which of course, causes frame rates to drop accordingly. Going back to 302.92, and my usage is pretty much pegged with vsync off. Had flashbacks from my 7970m days.....

At any rate, I ended up using RivaTuner Statistcs Server which is part of the MSI Afterburner download to cap my frame rates to my refresh rate of 60....59 really the best if you really want to virtually eliminate tearing. I know BF3 has the gametime.maxvariablefps console variable does the same thing, but RTSS will work with all the games or select games if you use profiles. And fyi, you will see GPU usage fluctuations with capped frame rates because while a scene could be rendered at let's say 125 fps, having a cap of 60 will cause the GPU to work less to render at 60 than 125, but if you're playing a game and most of frame rates hover in the upper 50's to low 60's, expect much higher usage and temps.

Download from here: MSI Afterburner 3.0.0 Beta 10 Download

    or here: MSI Afterburner

Give it shot and good luck!

Actually not to bad because I run VSync and trip buffering. Researching the problem at hand I did find a thread that claimed that part of the problem was for some people the in game VSync and Tripple buffering settings were useless and had no effect. They claimed that with aftermarket software you could force VSync and Tripple buffering and see large improvements. I have not tried this and I forget which program is used, but it comes with Riva Tuner as an extra.

EDIT: The program is called Direct3DOverrider and is bundled with RivaTuner. Unfortunately these is no direct download. Check out this thread, it explains the issue and the fix better than I can. From what I gather the in game options for vsync and triple buffering don't do anything for some people. They seem to work for me because I don't experience the tearing, but I also have both graphics options set in the Nvidia Control Panel under Global Settings and Deus EX specific settings. I never tried this fix because I don't experience the tearing. Try setting Vsync and tripple buffering in the Nvidia Control Panel under Deus Ex game settings, and if it doesn't show any sign of improvment then give the Direct3DOverrider a go. I fortunately have my game to the point that it is very playable and I only get micro stutter for a few seconds here and there depending on the area (mostly large areas with lots of people and scenery).

Have you tried adjusting the maximum pre-rendered frames setting to 1 in the Nvidia control panel for BF3? This fixed all microstutter and general chopiness for me with my 680m.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that.

I'll give the regedits a try for Deus Ex as mentioned earlier and see if I can get away without using RTSS.
