Thought i'd try my new laptop out with this since i liked the xbox version but im just running around the first area and im getting slowdown whenever i look at a wall too close. If its off in distance its fine. Happens on lowest resolution too.

Replaced my v179.28 drivers with some of dox's and its the same thing. Though when i run fraps it says its a constant 60fps when the wall slowdown is happening though the smoke can lower the fps. Also tried setting cpu affinity but no affect of it crashes the game. Using a 360 pad, with a mouse the slowdown is les obvious but its there.

    Anyone else had this problem?

My laptop is an acer 6935g with these specs
    9600m GT ddr3
    4gb ram
    core2duo 2.52ghz
    vista 32bit

Try enabling/disabling v-sync see if that helps at all.

Also try turning all the settings to low, and then re-enable them all to max one by one in case a particular option is causing it. Whatever the issue is, should be fixable.

I tried the v-sync yesterday with my original drivers i had and nothing. Will try again though. Also the settings are minimal. You have the resolution, and something else that gives everything a blur/glow effect. Thats about it.

Also tried compatibilty mode, running as admin, the 1.2 official patch, a high res texture patch and a reinstall. Somehow i don't think its going to get fixed for me.

Try this, Locate user.ini which should be in (my documents/deus Ex - Invisible war) Open it with notepad, using notepad++ would be much better though.

Press ctrl+F and find vsync , then change the value from true to False, you can also change the screen resolution here by searching for ViewportX and ViewportY which allows you to use widescreen resolutions.

Will do! However i just tried prince of persia the sands of time and it does exactly the same. My character is always in slowmo while im getting either 60fps with vsync or 100+ without. Same with turning off any special effects. Though game runs smooth in cutscene well the first one at least and in menus. Not too sure but i think it does run a tiny bit better on the lowest resolution.

Games that work though or the halo games and sonic adventure oh and tried phantasy star universe too. All good.

EDIT - It didnt work, if anything I seem to get more slowdown in places :D

Apprently the sands of time one is caused by core2duos so maybe same for deus ex. I half fixed sands of time by turning off vsync and then only giving cpu1 affinity. Slowdown is mostly gone but still in some areas with fog or lot of detail. Doesnt have any affect on deus ex though.
