I just updated my video drivers to 11-5 and the new drivers seem to work. Although the Main Menu of Shogun 2 didn't load one time. (just a blank screen.) Attached is a GPU-Z screenshot. It sees my card as a 5800 series as well. I was wondering why this is happening and if there are any other negative consequences.

    Thanks.

I am also on 11.5 and like you the 5870 is listed as ATI 5800 series. I did a clean install and have read other posts so I am sure that this is ok. The information comes from the OEM6.Inf file.

My HD 6970m shows as AMD Radeon HD 6900m series.
    But no negative performance impact.

Since all 58x0M card uses the same architecture core, ATI just calls them in a series instead of discriminating them by their specific model. No worries.
