Which one do you think will happen first?
-
Diablo 3 isn't coming out until 2011, but I didn't think they were still releasing patches for D2.
-
Yea they are, and 1.13 was expected to debut this past summer but didnt. But as for DIII, are you sure about 2011? I heard it would be out in Q1 2010 and would be out before SC2.....i really hope youre wrong
-
I also heard it's scheduled to be released in 2011 - Blizz simply likes to polish it's games before premiere day, so I think 2011 date is possible.
As for next patchfor good ol' Diablo II - heh It is good thin, but the game simply is outdated today, and I can't bare 800x600 res with pixels anymore
-
i don't think there's any value in patching up DII. the gameplay doesn't have to be perfectly balanced like SC. they should stop wasting time on decade old game and put all their resources in making DIII awesome lol.
-
that decade old game still has users, its obviously worth something

Damn Q1 2010? I would definitely bet against that wherever you heard that from.
And I thought the whole point of D2 1.13 was to get people into the spirit again for D3, maybe they'll release it 2 months before D3 like how they're releasing that new campaign for L4D before L4D2 -
That the new patch for D2 comes out before D3 is almost a given. As already stated above, any hopes of D3 being released next year are slim at best.
While the 1.13 is supposed to refresh D2, I would naturally think it would also serve to increase Diablo-mania before the advent of D3. -
the only update that's probably worth it (for me) for revisiting DII is if they increased the resolution.
-
That would be something else......
I prefer they put all their resources into D3. -
^Fixed.
-
i think startcraft will be released this winter before christmas and diablo 3 next winter before christmas. I wouldnt expect diablo 3 for at least a full year and thats with a crapload of optimism.
-
i heard it was coming out next month???
lol im kidding, but forget it. if its coming out in 2011, thatll be stupid. i remember a year ago them saying it was coming out in nov 09. i really dont even care anymore bc it should not take 13 yrs to make a game that simple. Especially from a gaming company that has more than enough money to take over the world. -
I'm looking forward to both D3 and v1.13. Patch is supposed to make skill trees resettable. Which is good because I really messed up on the skills on many players. Some poor planning, others a mere misclick.
-
lol and they decide to come out with this 13 yrs later?
LOOL -
Diablo II was released in 2000, so I don't know where you're getting this "13 yrs" stuff from.
But the fact that a game is being actively supported with free upgrades almost a decade later shows you the commitment that Blizzard has to its products. -
Indeed. And sometimes good things can't be rushed. Blizzard almost always takes their time with new game releases, and I respect them for that.
At least they are not churning out games like hot cakes that lack quality. Think EA. -
Atleast they are sticking with it for awhile with stuff unlike *cough* Left 4 Dead *cough* releasing L4D 2 already.
-
Yeah, it's definitely worth playing. Really well made game and I enjoy playing it from time to time but now I'm actually a little bored with it. Don't know why.
-
Ugh Starcraft MMOs???
Unless they are all PVP servers, it will just be WOW with different player models.
I'm tired of all those MMOs out there where you just bash on CPUs and rats.
Anyone remember Planetside?
That was a REAL man's MMO. You had a shooting range to test out some weapons, but after there you leveled up killing REAL people. Not some scripted enemy who decides, "Hey, I'm going to give you a chance to kill me by fighting you near a niche where you can hide from my devestating AOE!!"
Even better, I'm gonna let you camp outside my lair, giving you a full hour to kill off all my powerful lieutenants ONE AT A TIME.
Seriously........ Give me a real challenge, something where the failure rate among groups isn't less than 10%. -
not me, because i know for a fact d3 will never live up to d2...
-
Oh ye of little faith. This is Blizzard we are talking about.
-
yeah, they are just gonna WoW-ify diablo... woohoo
-
On one of my characters, I can't recall if I accidentally clicked into the wrong skill point once or if I was dreaming. I haven't actually played the game in a couple of years, but I still periodically load the game in windowed mode and log in my characters to keep them active on Battle.net. If 1.13 actually introduces some interesting new features, I may pick up the game again for perhaps a month, and I may even be tempted to finish my abandoned goal of leveling up my three highest characters to 97 (96, 95, and 95 now, though I ended up remaking one of my 95 characters and may have only got her back up to 92). I really don't remember many details of what I did in that game anymore.
As for Diablo III, Blizzard can take as long as they want. The longer it takes to come out, the better, because I don't need such a big distraction in the short term. I've determined that Diablo III will strictly be a gaming effort between friends, because I don't care to spend countless hours and overshoot my free time with strangers on Battle.net again. -
Oh forgive me, its been too long...it doesnt matter, it could be 50 yrs for all i care.
And as for the OP, why would they come out with a patch for D2 after D3 came out? thats like saying "Is the military going to come out with a SAR 21 before a plasma rifle?"
imo, D2 is over, I tried to play it and wanted to stab myself in the eyes. It used to be the greatest game, but now it is outdated, and Blizz failed to update it with D3.
So no, blizz IMO has no commitment to diablo or starcraft. They have been too rapped up in WoW to worry about it. -
It was more of a joke since the patch was promised last april
-
If resolution is your problem with D2, there i indeed a non-official workaround to give D2 any resolution. (D2multires)
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/downloads/D2MultiRes-v102.zip
The game is quite different with it though. Ranged characters become more powerful as they can see mobs sooner. This is definitely nice, but would be cheating on a battlenet server so only use in single-player.
The file I got from the location is indeed virus free, but any furthur downloads I advise caution just to play it safe.
It does indeed work with a few minor bugs (some crashes while using) and has given me new interest in D2. -
Mm. Blizzard's CEO said at Blizzcon that Starcraft 2 and WoW: Cataclysm are the Blizzard products that'll be released in 2010. The corollary of which is that D3 won't land til 2011, at the earliest.
That, or D3 is going to hit us before the end of this year. I find that highly unlikely. -
awesome! i'm playing it @ 1280x800 atm
-
How can you judge it way before it is even released? Sure game play trailers show you some of the game, but as we all know that doesn't always translate into the end product.
Great games don't get outdated, IMHO. Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, System Shock, Half Life. We don't call them outdated and lousy games now, do we?
Diablo 2 1.13 or Diablo 3 First?
