Diablo 3 (Just asking)

Hello everyone, i searched around on here for a bit but couldnt find anything recent on the game of Diablo.

i have played em all been every character, you name it, the same old same old!

so i was surfing the web and found some stuff on Diablo 3 however i think it was all photo shopped, and i found some stuff on this website about it but it all dated back to 2006 as the most recent!

so is there anyone that knows of any new games that are very very similar to the Diablo game, or is there going to be a Diablo 3?

ive played counter stike before untill it took a crap on me and got sick of the same basic maps over and over again!

keep in mind that i havent played games or looked into them in a long time, but summers coming up, and i thought id get myself something to do when i get bored, and really dont feel like going out either, i also got me a new comp too so thats kinda swaying the bar a little as well!

There hasnt been any announcment for Diablo 3 yet. Im almost positive its in the works, they are currently working on another MMORPG that isnt based on Warcraft. There is a chance they may announce something at this years Worldwide Invitational, but that depends how far along they are in development.
Some ppl dont think its even gonna be made but...the author for the Diablo novels says otherwise lol. Heard rumors Blizzard is using his story for the game.

They need to re-make this game though, absolutely play it 24/7!

I had every class but excelled with a hammerdin.

I only dueled on d2 classic. xpac was too overrated on duels

 

No Diablo 3 has been officially annouced, though some would say Hellgate: London attempted to be its spiritual successor.

I'd recommend a couple of games for your new system:

Orange Box (includes Half-Life 2 and episodes, TF2 (way more fun than CS:S), and Portal (2007 game of the year).

If you want to get back to some Diablo-style gameplay, Titan Quest and it's expansion Immortal Throne are really great games that feel similar to Diablo without being clones.

 

The story of "Diablo 2" is over, but trust me, if you've read the novels, you'd know that just because the Prime evils were "killed", doesnt mean its over.

I kinda do and i kinda dont. I do because i liked D2 to no end, from MF to PVP with a my friends bear (3 attacks per frame....on a BEAR!!!), and my Sin which would kick you to death (6 (i think) kicks looked like 1). But i hope they dont, release it because if they do, then i will lose my social life and drop out of college because of my addiction...

 

Titan Quest is a great game if you are looking for a Diablo-esq game. The Half-Life series are loads of fun, especially Portal. I think Portal is the first, First Person Shooter that I have replayed more than twice (replayed it 5 times)

 

Wow that bear had some nice IAS. I think I was at 3 smites per frame when I had my godly PvP Smiter. Or maybe 2 frames. I wish it wasnt deleted, I had the best items in the game! I could even solo uber tristram by myself and collect those sexy torches...ahhh nostalgics.

 

man I hear ya on this one, I dont know what it is about it either, but I tend to go in spurts with it as well, but now its just gotten so redundant, I' am looking for something new....

and sorry i didnt catch your name before I pushed the reply button, but to whoever said Diablo 3 has already been announced; do you have a link to where i can get info on this?

It was pretty nuts; i remember when i first saw i thought it was glitching or something because it looked like he had 3 arms on side of his body! But no he just attacked that fast. Btw i played primarily in .10 and .11, i stopped around the time the torches came, though i did have one for zon. I stopped playing for the exact same reason i dont want D3 to come out too...

 

Now this reminds me of D2....

Rumours of a 3rd game in the franchise have been floating round for this time, frankly I think it will take a while since Blizzard have their hands full with WoW and the upcoming Starcraft 2.

 

Talking of 3rd installments.... these are 3 3rd games I'm waiting for

Red Alert 3
Diablo 3

 

another vote here for the Tiatn Quest and Immortal Throne game. go pick them both up for cheap install them and before you know it 3 or 4 days will have gone by haha. its a suitable addictive replacement for Diablo.

it is very graphics intensive and there are plenty of mods to have. the best one i believe would be the vault as you collect "stuff" rapidly and you cannot drop it on the ground and retrieve it later like in Diablo. just my two cents. there is a huge forum devoted to this game too.

 

we should start playing D2 again and start a clan but this time on Hardcore mode.

Haha me and my friends have had some great times with Diablo 2. Possibly the game I have logged the most hours in.

Im 99% positive Blizz's new MMO announcement is Diablo 3, it would be awesome if they turned it into a true MMO (not 8 people per game crap).

I've kept my characters from expiring but haven't played in a while, my best char was ice/lightning sorc (got an ice/fire to hell mode but i was screwed).

 

It was talked about in an interview about starcraft. They said they can't comment on it, but did state that the Diablo world is not dead (or something like that). They have also hired on authors to start writing books again.

They also have at least one new MMO they are working on... which could either be a starcraft or diablo mmo. Or something completely new.

My thought is they are either in pre-dev (planning stages, takes about a year before dev starts) or will start the initial stages right after SC2 is released.

I'm with everyone else... I believe we will see the new MMO turn out to be Diablo3...

And yes... if you need something new to tide you over, I also say go get Titan Quest and it's expansion. Very, very good.

 

i never made it past the 2nd level 3 whirling attackers / judges. i had two down and the 3rd was halfway when i bit the dust. i never tried it online just single player mode so i am sure there was a whole world of gameplay i missed.

 

Yeah i played on HC mode as well, until my pally died he was lvl 80 something and i was so mad, its funny how mad and disappointed one can get over a computer game when the end is actually the end!

ive never played WoW mainly because i think you pay enough for the game that you shouldnt have to pay for the game to go online!! that part really eerks me

but since it seems enough people are willing to pay for it, im afraid more games are going to be like this?

And Blizzard has to know that there is a demand for the Diablo 3 game because there is a whole website forum devoted to it (not sure how many members, though) and i know there are still people playing D2!

You should check out the game Mythos, which is currently in closed beta. It's made by Flagship Studios, which is comprised of mostly the old producers of the Diablo games who left Blizzard.

They also made Hellgate London, but that had a number of flaws, and well, you have to pay for it.

Mythos is completely free, but you will have to wait a small while to be accepted into the beta. You can sign up with just your email address at their website, www.mythos.com

I think you'll enjoy this a lot, it's kind of a hybrid between World of Warcraft art style and questing with Diablo style combat and perspective.

 

To clear that up... HL you have to buy, but are not forced to pay a monthly fee. You can however pay a monthly fee and get additional content or something.

And the dev team was also largely made up of ex d2 employees (from what I remember).

Blizzard Is Going To Make Diablo 3 Eventually, But My Personal 2 Cents That They Are Going To Release It Only After They Can Milk Out The WoW And Starcraft 2 Out Of All It's Juices 1st.

The Game Will Get Released When The Time Will Come, But Right Now WoW Making Them So Much Profit That It Wouldn't Make Sesnse For Them To Release Another Competing Product And Cannabalize Their Own Profit!

As Far As The Story Line Goes I Think When They Destruct The World Stone That Was Soppose To Protect The World Now It Means That The World Is Not Protected... If The World Had To Be Protected From Some Menace And Now That Protection Is Lost That Means More Trouble And Some Enemy Will Surely Emerge And Try To Take Advantage Of The Fact That The World Is Not Protected.

 

Well, I'm sure they can easily come up with a story line for d3. Shouldn't be that hard. The first two weren't heavy on story in game (from what I remember).

I partially agree with you warloque. They will wait till after SC2 comes out before releasing any info on d3. I'm almost positive they are working on it now in some form... Dev probably won't start until after SC2 releases, though I'm sure it won't be the SC2 team working on it.
I do doubt they would wait till WoW dries up. Why only have one income when you can have two? I think most people will buy D3... and still keep WoW (if they play it).

 

It Wouldn't Make Sense To Play WoW And Diablo Both In The Same Time, Because Diablo 3 Going To Require Level Your Char Get All The Gear Etc. So People Who Start Playing Diablo 3 Are Going To Cancel Their WoW Accounts Cos They Spent All The Time On D3.
If Diablo - 3 Is Going To Be Good. The Only Case People Will Go Back To WoW If D3 Gona Suck.

I heard from a friend that blizzard bought a Diablo3 domain, but i have no clue what the ending is, and it is just rumours, maybe they bought the .com, would be quite funyy ^^

Furthermore Blizzard bought the Trademark for Diablo3 last year, and they released Diablo 2 + Exp on June 29 of 2000/2001, and the blizz invitationals end this year on June 29, so there are quite some rumours going around and theories, but nobody, except those blizz people that REALLY know it, can tell, and they wont.

But I still believe that this game IS comming, earlier than Duke Nukem Forever

 

Like Duke Nukem Forever will ever be released. By the time it does come out, it's not going to be worth the time anyway.

Ah Diablo. Those were the days. My first character was a convert/thorn paly back before they nerfed the convert.

 

in your wait for diablo 3, try titan quest. almost the same game play but full 3D. not as good as the diablo series, but the next best thing

Myrk, there is heavy speculation into D3 being released in 00/01. They are aiming to do SC2 on it's 10 year anniversary (not on the exact date) and I wouldn't be surprised if they release D3 10 years after D2.

Meanwhile... we'll wait and see!

 

i dont care if diablo3 is still in 2D. Aslong as they have bigger towns and uncap the 8 player limit

:-D It will be 3d in the same way that TQ is.... or it will be the same perspective as WoW. But hey, they could possibly even do it FPS style.

The small towns were always a disappointment... But I've never been too bothered by 8 player limit. I personally wouldn't mind seeing it as an MMO.

 

Ahh... the days of D2. I started playing in .08 and played through to .11. I've since let my characters expire, but I recall answering an Algebra 2 question with "unidentified" instead of "undefined" for the slope of a line...

 

Yeah I checked out titan quest, it looks too, "gamerish" if that makes sence at all, what i mean is it almost too fantasy world like.

i like diablo, and counter strike games because the people are somewhat real looking, the monsters will always be monsters, but at least the people dont look like elves and warlocks, and such.... ya know?

i checked out hell gate London, and that looks pretty good according to the back of the box, but internet reviews (including ones on this website) say otherwise, so i dont know....

anyone know of any good police games that are somewhat realistic, but fun, like you dont have to go through the training and such?

 

I liked Swat 4. and the Old Rainbow Six's. Vegas and Vegas 2 makes me feel like I'm playing Halo. Vegas 2 esp made it to arcadish. And it was WAY TOO EASY.

 

Um... TQ... everyone looks like a person. It's based in ancient Sparta (partly) but all the monsters are demon type things. What you were probably seeing were the Satyrs and what not. All the NPCs but the few gods and what not look human. I suggest trying the demo.

Hellgate london is alright. Probably worth $25. You have the option to pay or not. It's not a bad game, but from the demo, the randomly generated dungeons all looked the same. I'm sure it wouldn't be a bad game, not worth $50 though. And you can also get a demo of it.

 

Super Target has hell gate London for 29.99 right now.

And i suppose i will have to do more research on that titan quest game because i just looked at the back of the box and then the price tag and i was like ummm maybe more towards the summer i might go ahead and get it!

 

Well, try the demo. The expansion pack is really nice, but you can buy both for $20 on amazon or steam.

but really... avoid the steam version if you can. It's... problematic to say the least.

Blizzard Invitational in 2 months time, until then every fan will speculate until an official announcement is made or the sky collapses on their heads.

 

thanks for the link! however it says that blizzard buys domain names all the time, that may be true, but i think they will be coming out with a diablo 3 game because why else wouldnt they have just left it as a fan site? dont know when but it will happen!

can someone explain to my why diablo 2 is not an MMO?
MMO stands for "Massively multiplayer Online" game correct? what is different about this and diablo 2 style?

MMO's mean a lot of people on a single server. Hundres and hundreds. On most WoW servers, there are several thousand players.

Diablo 2 let you have a max party of something like 6 on a server.

Also, I think part of the requirement of an MMO is that it is in a persistent world. D2 is not persistent at all.

 

Pshaw, Diablo 2 lets you have a party of 8 .

Also, not to get off-focus, but on the subject of RPGs has their been any announcement on KoToR 3?

 

so if d3 went to an mmo there would be more than 8 players in a game? that would be cool, but it would still be nice if they would have a limit of the amount of people that you could choose to put into a game.
