***UPDATE - MAY 15TH, 2012 = RELEASE***
I usually don't follow leaks, however this one is quite convincing since the leak came from the Italian division of the game publisher.
Source:
Diablo: IncGamers Italian Branch “Leaks” Diablo 3 Release Date
And I can't believe it's 54 Euros = 71.3124 U.S. dollars for the STANDARD game. Ouch.
I'm still in the "I'll believe it when I see it" mind set when it comes to Blizzard games, though![]()
-
A few weeks ago while at game stop buying the witcher 2, the salesman showed me his screen showing Diablo 3 being released on June 2nd. But in all reality we won't know until blizzard officially announces it.
-
that is quite an ambitious release date.
Playing the beta, and there are a TON of bugs still including not being able to join public games and major AH issues. -
I`d pay $200 for it if they wanted
-
From people that have been playing the beta I've heard that they didn't expect it to get released til June or later. So I'm pretty skeptical. I just snagged a couple of beta keys, gonna check it out when I can.
-
Kinda wanted to try out the classes prior to release so I wouldn't waste time lol.
-
I want a beta key.
-
bah, I lost interest in D3, whenever they release I will order it afterwards, also dunno, the beta doesn't seem too interesting, everybody has the same char, not funny at all... no diversity!

I'll maybe wait until it drops to a sale price of $30 to $20. I noticed the beta's graphics were just like Neverwinter Night 2's graphics. But I didn't like Torchlight's graphics. I wish D3 had Torchlight's pet and sending the pet off to sell stuff.
-
I just pre ordered mine at Gamestop. Their system said May 3rd. But I assume this is like any other situation where it can be pushed up or back
-
Would still depend on Blizzard, we've had release date leaks set for last month that didn't happen.
so unless blizz tweets about it or announces it on the forums.... -
Blizzard gave out a ton of keys to fan sites recently. So I was able to snag a couple. I thought they were more common. Guess not.
Also think it's interesting Jay Wilson didn't debunk the release date.
So maybe it will be April 17th, if it is I guess we'll find out very soon.
Is The Diablo 3 Release Date April 17? Jay Wilson Cannot Debunk Or Confirm - G4tv.com -
.....
-
Guys don't take the price too much seriously. In Italy the prices are shown with VAT that is actually 21% of the global price. Abroad I'm almost sure it will cost less on average
-
This is the most delayed product I have ever seen in my life.
April 17th is still 42 days away if it's in-fact "THE" date lol -

Diablo 3, $70
Path of Exile, free
And path of exile looks more like what I wanted Diablo 3 to be in the first place. It has the gritty feel you expected for a Diablo 2 sequel rather than a World of Warcraft feel.
To each his own, I suppose. -
-
-
It's probably just a typo...
April 17, 3012 is probably closer.
This is, after all, a Blizzard product. -
Blizzard is removing PvP from Diablo III, at least temporarily, in order to at least get the single-player and coop portions to the market. The PvP is apparently the hold-up.
Diablo III shelves PvP to make launch | Massively -
I love PvP to death in MMO's, however I'd be willing to wait near the level cap to PvP if it meant releasing the game NOW! (lol) -
Considering that Blizzard hasn't made an official announcement, I just strongly doubt that the April 17th launch date is indeed legit. There just doesn't seem to be enough time from now until then unless we do hear an announcement this week possibly.
-
Assuming that Diablo 3 is going to be released on the 13th of April, I wonder how many people who actually stay in the game for a long time.
-
Even on the odd chance you could find someone who wasn't cheating (or had an arranged match between friends), one or two classes were just so massively overpowered that every single player serious about PvP was the same two classes and build types. Anything else was guaranteed loss even knowing what items they had and which skills they were going to use and in what order.
Even watching was boring... oh look another MB Assassin vs MB assassin fight... wake me when its over.
Honestly, D3 might be altogether better if they just never make a PvP component. Due to Battlenet's rampant cheating, its never going to be worth anything unless they have an official watching the battle and monitoring cheat activity anyway. -
Oh, and to add it on with the ability to access high end gear through the auction house, players would be separated into strong and weak just by gear.
-
Yay, pay to win!
I'll be the guy doing solo runs in the most vanilla gear possible while selling everything D3 to the nuts willing to put themselves, their mom, and their grandma in the poorhouse just to be .00000000000001% better in PvP in an online game.
This is of course assuming the best gear isn't duped by the second week of release. -
I might be doing MF runs as well just for fun, but I'm not really sure whether or not I want to buy the game yet.

I am perfectly ok with them shelving PVP until the game is released. Its really not a big deal, HOWEVER - they need to release the game before i lose interest! I've been playing beta and..well..I'll just say it feels a little dated. I'll still pick it up because it's Diablo
-
^^ same here, I think I already did lose the interest... but I will play it because of story, much like what I am doing for mw...
-
I probably will go through the storyline slowly and with friends, that'll make things fun.
-
No diversity is pretty much what happens when only one character is available ! -
ME3 has multiplayer but no PvP, and for an action RPG, I think there's a lot to be said for that approach.
I'm glad they're going to get D3 to market sooner rather than later. The delays are starting to get absurd. -
By no diversity, I believe that he meant at end game, all the characters will pretty much have the same gear and same skill set as each other, not because there are limited classes, but because there is not much customization in skill levels.
-
and about diversity, if you are going to play the single player alone, then it is a pure hack and slash, no enjoyment there for me (except for the story), I tend to play together with friends with varying abilities, two wizard in a band is two equal char in D3... (in D2 we had the good old, fire mage / ice mage / lightning mage, all different, we had charge paladin, zeal paladin, really, D2 was 10 times better than D3, I am in beta test already for about 2 months) -
pretty sure they'll do it the "wow" way, creating "balances" every 2-3 months or so and rotating the flavor of the month classes and builds, kind of annoying if you're a 1 character/class player but it works in terms of balancing the general population's interest in the game

Given how much changed in D2, it is not too late.
Every wizard should be different... while they all should share some things, it should matter who focused more in what skill...
For instance, one wizard might be more skilled in lightning bolt and the other more skilled in disintegrate... why ISN'T this the case?
While I understand that the current system has been simplified, why can't a class specialize by devoting more and more of a findable resource (runes??)at diminishing returns?
Sure, you are level-capped and your skills and specializations already chosen, but each time you find a resource of the correct type, why can't you add a little (damage/land percentage/duration/etc) to the specialization effect? Perhaps even lower-level versions of that resource add at least a little... perhaps the specialization is effectively infinite with diminishing returns?
Sure, you can respec at any time, but you should lose specialization in your previous skills when you do.
Grats... infinite playability and more customization...
Note, the numbers don't have to be rediculous... just allow those specialized and invested a return.
Example:
Fred the wizard finds a resource1 and clicks it, making his disintegrate spell specialization level raise by 1. He does slightly more damage than someone skilled at disintegrate. Fred finds the same resource1, but only gets .5 of a specialization level this time. (This is not enough to have any effect yet) He buys 10 of a lower-level resource2 from a newbie and brings it to an NPC to have a chance to combine it into the resource1 he needs. He succeeds and clicks it to get another .5, which brings his specialization level to 2 which raises his damage again. -
^^ I really don't get what blizz is doing atm, western RPG is always focused on specialized skills, this is probably the first time we will get an RPG without skill specialization, I am really worried that the game will be the dumbest game ever...

It's official. May 15th is the release date.
-
aww you beat me too it... lol

Aaand there goes my summer.
Goodbye summer 2012. -
Not terribly excited about it, the whole development cycle of D3 was just a big blunder in my opinion.
