Hi guys,
I was trying to play Diablo III this days and my notebook can't run it very well.
I can play it, but with lowest details and 15~20 fps, with a lot of lag if more then 5 creatures on the screen.
My config is a Core 2 Duo, 3GB RAM, Win 7, and a geforce 9300m.
I've heard the Vostro can upgrade to the 8600gt, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have not much difference on the performance.
Is it woth the upgrade? Is there a better card which I can get?
Thanks in advance.

The 9300 was low end 4-5 years ago. It's not going to do well at all with 2012 games.
It's not worth it to make the switch to the 8400 (are you sure it's even possible?). If you're really set on playing Diablo 3 then it might be time for a new computer.
Edit: The OP originally asked about the 8400. I'm not sure who changed my post to the 8600. -
You need at least a 9600m gt gddr3 to have any chance of playing it well.

The 1520 has soldered graphics and cannot be upgraded. 9300M GS = 8400M GS rebrand. I would buy a new laptop as it isn't possible to do such an upgrade nor would it be cost effective in most cases.

I am currently running D3 on my 5 year old HP with a 8600 GS (if I remember correctly). I was getting ~15 fps but I found that if you disable trilinear filtering I was getting 20-25.
Documents > Diablo3 > D3prefs
change the 0 to a 1 for DisableTrilinearFiltering
This should help you and if not just change it back and no harm done.
Now just waiting for my new computer to get here with a 7970m and max everything. -
9300m gs is not an 8400m gs rebrand. its 2x as powerful and is a 65nm card compared to the 80nm card which is 8400m gs. Funnily enough I have used many of these type of laptop gpu's.
Snipore an amd 7970m is a lower number then my nvidia 9600m gt

No, it isn't soldered. The upgrade is possible.
And, its definitely worth it at 25$

and it is over 9000. That makes it 20x better right there. I don't know what I was thinking.

How did this magically change from "is the 8400 worth it?" to "is the 8600 worth it?" The 86 is probably still going to be crappy with D3, btw.

I can play this game with 20-35 fps with a 9300m gs, - it is playable but in the outskirts it slows down a bit (it isn't a problem). In the tombs there are no problems at all.
I'm actually impressed since I have a very low-end system:
Intel Dual Core T4400 2,0 GHZ
2 GB RAM
9300m GS -> newest drivers with standard clocks and settings.
EDIT: Oh, and everything is set to low, and I'm using a resolution on 1024 x 768. -
8600M GT doesn`t do well with Diablo 3, even at the lowest settings

If the 9300m gs can perform with a framerate between 20-35, the 8600m GT should do it a bit better, - I went to your link, and I think they are struggling with drivers/using Mac because as I said, I have no problems at all with my old 9300m gs.

25$!!! Its worth it just to have a backup vid card! -
He's actually correct as I own a Vostro 1520, it's all soldered on the motherboard. The Vostro 1500 which I also own is a laptop you can pull out the graphics card. The link you posted is for the Inspiron 1520 which is basically a Vostro 1500.

He said Vostro 1520, not Inspiron 1520, the Vostro 1520 has soldered graphics. I know the 1520 has removable graphics because I have the Vostro 1500, the Inspiron 1520 clone.
Okay 9300M GS has 65 nm drop but it's still only 8 shaders, 64 bit memory bit, aka weak crap. -
