I just signed up and if anyone did get invited and have played it, is it any good?

I felt exactly like that when I signed up for SC2 beta years ago.. I had to wait a year..

 

i submitted to get a key. If i get it i'll give it to someone....maybe htwingnut if he gives me a steam game ^^

Seems like a nice blend of BF2 and BC2 = BF2 graphics + BC2 shooting mechanics

 

lol that guy must be a PMI to shoot a bursting shot standing at that range

This is seperate from BF3, there is still gonna be a BF3, this is just an attempt to bring something like CS : online and warface over here, away froma korean market. The upside to this is you only spend as much as you want, so maybe you'll only buy the guns you want and say spend 10 bucks rather than 60 ona game were you don't use all the guns anyways.

That said, im the game who will master all weapon types in BFBC2 anyways just cause I can.

 

Just received my beta key in an email 5 mins ago. I'll load her up tonight after work and report back!!

I'll be honest, I totally forgot about it.




Also, the game seems very very laggy to me.

 

had my key 4 days now and it takes ages to load.
map is wide open and the streets are massive so wherever you spawn youve got a lot of running to do unless you are lucky enough to get a tank.
game play itself, hmmm, is ok as its a freebie but with the usual beta glitches.
will give it a go for a week or so.

 

i was invited. hmm the game seems to be stuck at the first screen where i see my character models.

Just got mine too along with Age of Empires Online.

Decisions on which to play first! Probably battlefield only because I love BF 1942, BF Vietnam, BF2, and enjoyed BFBC2 even thought it irritated me about as much as I had fun with it.

 

First Impression:

If you're a BF2 veteran you might be disappointed. Currently the beta's map is "Karkand" and it is identical to the BF2 map. The classes are all familiar too, Assault, Medic, Engineer, and Recon and they are all identical to the BF:BC2 classes with their weapon loadouts and kit perks.

The game is definitely in beta, it was pretty laggy. My biggest challenge with the game was the fact that they still had relatively high recoil for a game with lag, and I found it extremely difficult to hit people that weren't in close/medium range.

I'll give it some more testing, but I kinda felt like I should have just loaded up BF2 again if I wanted to play this. They didn't seem to have added anything new and interesting that would attract a battlefield veteran.

 

i was like that. you had to drag your primary weapon onto the number 1 space at bottom left, or i did anyway and then it would let me play the game.

 

A question one has to ask themselves is, could I find a mod for free to get my BF2 to look like this? And then does the free to play model get thrown out ?

 

That would be nice. I always thought if they gave BF2 a significant facelift (i.e. Dx 11) and tune out the significant bugs, I would buy it again for $50 considering I spent a good 600+ hours in that game.

Installing right now. There's now way to minimize the installer screen? That sucks.

 

At least you're able to install. My internet has been cutting out lately every couple minutes, just for a second, long enough to terminate the download.

 

This is definitely a revised BF2. I don't like that you can't switch kits before you respawn though unless you can and I don't see it.

Seems like the medic and ammo kits work like Bad Company style, they sit there and resupply instead of a soldier consuming it completely.

One game I played there was like no lag at all. Then I exited to switch settings, etc, and the next game the lag was horrible. Although got a >1 k/d ratio both times.

 

How many guns are available in it? I wonder how much is Free to play and how much you gotta pay for?

 

very little is available at the moment, but then again it is beta. I played as assualt class and had two primary weapons, knife, ammo kit, and tracer dart gun available.

 

Man I always forget to sign up for betas, oh well I'll probably get in eventually.

Meh, nothing special. It's like BF2 + Combat Arms, which is a really bad mix.

 

It's better than most other free 2 play FPS games if not all

 

I just got my invite, will defiantly play it over my break, was shocked at first since i wasnt expecting one so soon.

Yes, I also got the code for the rest of the beta... haven't used it so far.
It says I can invite 5 friends for Oman... but I haven't even registered so far. Is the key bound to an email adress or can I give it away? I'm sure someone would be interested...

i did try it on the opening day but the maps are massive and where you spawn you have to run miles to get to the action and then get immediately shot by a sniper,lol.

 

Lol, well, was worth a try... maybe I register myself in the end, but what I heard so far didn't really sound too great.

 

if youve played the likes of bad company 2, call of duty mw2/black ops and medal of honour then you will hate the game. if your new to pc gaming and havnt played those games then i think you will like it.

I played the BETA for 5 minutes, quit, uninstalled it, and nearly forgot I even played the piece of junk called BFP4F.

It's like some twisted alternative reality with player feel and guns from BC2 and maps and environment from BF2. I don't even know why EA decided to expend resources on such a junk game, to think they would have gotten a clue about the play for free model after the disaster that was Battlefield: Heroes.

before you all wet yourselfs laughing i didnt have much choice in playing it. my m15x was crap and sent back for a refund so i was gaming laptopless so didnt have much choice.
out of the 2 games im not sure which i would pick.
like usapatriot i played a little longer on the beta and then deleted and forgot about it. clevo to the rescue
