I played the demo & my friend played it on 8600GT...both of us & many other friends didn't like it...the gameplay is average...the tracks are sooo dinosaurs...all are like those 90's arcade game tracks...

that crowd cheering n all when race starts is soo cheesy...

Although graphics & damage are the cool factors..

Really, do u guys really think its all that great? MW was better overall according to me

i found it quite dull .. , seems like game developers and game reviewers seem to mainly focus on the amazing High detailed Graphics instead of the gameplay which actually should be fun .. , Right now ill stick to a fun old classic GeometryWars : Retro Evolved than nfs prostreet ..

Errrm, no. Its a pretty crappy game, to be honest. Most Wanted was the last good NFS game, and the only one worth playing after the NFS5 (porsche unleashed). I guess Hot Pursuit 2 was tolerable, but only just. I'm thankful that NFS11 stayed away from the ricercrap that plagued Undergrounds 1, 2, and 3 (Carbon), but thats about it - its just not that good, really.

I sincerely want NFS12 to be High Stakes with the NFS9 physics engine and NFS11 graphic engine, and updated cars and such. That game was probably the best NFS to date - its just too old now.

Then i bought Porchse unleashed which was really cool but u really couldnt feel the speed...
underground2 was really cool with awesome soundtracks & brook burke rite?

man NFS has always been so popular after Counterstrike

Underground 2 is by far, without a doubt, the ABSOLUTE WORST game in the series.

And NFS5 has the most accurate physics model in any NFS game to date, 11 included.

I quote nocturnal310 in every aspect...the general difficult of the game is too easy and there's no satisfaction in tha guiding-model...only cool graphics for playstation kids better stay with Trackmania United or GTR2 even if it's a simulation and not an arcade
I didn't like most wanted because the tuning part is too guided(hard to explain, easy to understand if you play all the nfs's) while in nfsu you can choose every single piece of your car and mount on it and see differences...
For me Need for speed series spents too much energy on graphics (from most wanted to now)that on gameplay and with time has lost some of his charme

So NFSPS it's a crap but i'm happy that this is not only my impression

Problem with game developers according to me is that they are only focussing on graphics...we need captivating games, games that are addictive!!

Most Wanted required almost no tuning at all - I beat the first guy with a stock car, and the second guy with the first guys car, etc. Its not hard. I did, of course, tune them to my hearts content, but only appearence-wise - they have the cars too riced as is, but you could potentially beat the game without ever going to the tuning shop, or the new car shop.

NFS was NEVER up to par with graphics, EVER, even gran tourismo 4 STILL looks better than pro street on any system, it's not really all that graphically appealing, and neither were ANY of the games. MW wasn't that great either.. Carbon did actually take everything that was good about MW and improve on it, but still wasn't as fun as NSFU2, which was ALOT better than NFSU1. PRo street is a discrace to the series just by the demo...

Pro street isn't fun like a SIM racer (like GT & Forza) since the controls feel fake and generic/arcade like, and the only thing left are the perks like cops, drifting, and the whole street racing aspect was removed, so we're left with a piece of junk that's not that great..

If you want to play the BEST NFS game EVER made, go no further than the PS2 version of NFS hot pursuit 2, ALL other versions SUCKED, (belive me I've played them..)

I really would like to see a modernized version of this game, with the same track styles, and cop perks like being able to lay your own tack strips, road blocks, helicopter barrages, or caLL for backup, it was really fun, but like I said ONLY on the PS2 version for some reason... they destroyed ALL other versions of it by removing the entire cop system..

Wow... Lots of NFS haters around the place. For the record I started playing the NFS series since the first underground and all the other ones after that and loved every bit of it. Most Wanted being the most fun for me but the others are pretty good as well except Carbon (it's average imo). ProStreet is more difficult (that's why I play at the "Racer" difficulty coz it helps you a bit at those sharp turns) (and may seems boring) than all the other NFS titles but once I got used to the driving style (learn to slow down at the corners) I started to enjoy it. I've also tried other racing games such as GT, Test Drive: Unlimited & DiRT but I hated all of them. The only other racing game I like is FlatOut 2. I guess I'll shut up now before someone here tries to argue that I am wrong. lol :p

haha this thread reminds me of the times when I was playing high stakes. On the first track in the game, I could go flat out without ever releasing the throttle for the whole lap in a Diablo...without crashing once too. :D
But once of the best NFS games should be Most Wanted. I loved that game and hated Carbon, Carbon was just boring.

it reminds me of nfs2 ...in which u take FZR2000 using cheat codes & it never crashes or slows down....the tracks are like proving grounds of NFS2

Ok I'll give my input on this since I've played most of the NFS games.

NFS 3 (Hot Pursuit)- Amazing game, tracks were good and the techno music rocked.

NFS 5 (Porsche Unleashed) - Without a doubt the NFS game that has the most emphasis on the actual cars and racing rather than street racing and modifications. In-depth game, good damage system, cool tracks (Alps, Auvergne, Schwarzwald and Zone Industrielle my favourites), great techno music again.

NFS 6 (Hot Pursuit 2) - Terrible game, rubbish gameplay, nothing to it whatsoever

NFS 7 (Underground) - Fresh idea based on The Fast & The Furious movie to bring street racing to the NFS series, really good game because it was different from the other NFS games, great music, decent graphics

NFS 8 (Underground 2) - Was really nothing special about it, good solid game but really wasn't as good as Underground

NFS 9 (Most Wanted) - Great to have cops again, pretty long game, good balance of car modification and racing, improvement in graphics, great music

NFS 10 (Carbon) - Far too short, step backwards from Most Wanted, pretty lame game

NFS 11 (ProStreet) - Played the demo and am pretty impressed, I have to say the car handling is really interesting and more realistic. I've not completed the demo yet because I've lost control of the car every single time although I haven't actually tried to play properly. Can't really talk about graphics because was playing on a PC with 7300GT so had to have settings on medium and off.

I really like NFS Prostreet, I think it's taken a better perspective on street racing and is sufficiently different from the previous games to make it refreshing. I think the problem is we're all looking too deep into the NFS series thinking that it should be a racing simulator when that's never what it's meant to be. GT, Forza, rFactor, Live For Speed, they are racing simulators...NFS has always been arcade racing and despite the fact that ProStreet is more realistic it's not a racing simulator. I think EA have done a good job from what I've seen and have made an effort not to recycle all the stuff from the previous game.

The main problem with NFS games now is that they are recycled every year like FIFA, NFL, NBA etc. and now they're stuck in a rut. It's going to be a mixed bag for ProStreet. Personally I'll be buying it.

Another vote for Porsche Unleashed as my favourite NFS ever. :)

Which version of NFS 6 did you play, don't go saying it sucks when it's the best one and it's completely different on pc/xbox/ps2/GC. Say if you played the xbox one, then yes, it sucks..

And I think you fail to see the point of pro street. They tried to make it into a sim racer, but it's NOT, and without the perks of the NFS games, it just sucks..

Prostreet kinda sucks. Most wanted was awesome. Carbon was a step back but I thought they were gonna use that as a launching pad for the next game which they clearly didn't.

I somewhat liked the storyline in Carbon, they just didn't do enough with it. They gotta step up the NFS series, they're starting to lose it.

u mean competing with games like gran turismo?
they are far from that currently...

Although NFS used to be special in its own way...they could have introduced environment damage ...carmaggedon kinda stuff...

hey wheres carmaggedon now? any new versions released?

I'll give my analysis of the NFS games as well (I've played from 3 - 11)

Hot Pursuit: I played it after I played High Stakes, so I wasn't impressed at all.

High Stakes: The most moddable game in the series, with really fun gameplay as well. I loved it.

Porsche Unleashed: Best (most realistic) physics model in an NFS game to date, pretty good graphics for its era. Also very fun, and since two years back you have been able to add non-Porsche cars. The poly limit is a lot higher in PU than HS, so its a lot easier on modelers.

Hot Pursuit 2: The beginning of the end. Gameplay sucked, but the graphics were good. Menus were completely annoying.

Underground: Not bad, it had some nice aspects. There were no glaring problems with the physics model, the tuning options were good (though they took entirely too much time), and such.

Underground 2: Dismal, at very best. The only good parts were the AE86 (I liked seeing such an old car in the game) and the dyno. Everything else sucked. Nobody cares whether your Civic's doors go up like a Lambo's, because its STILL A BLOODY CIVIC!

Most Wanted: A return to awesomeness, finally a successor to HP1, HS, and PU! The tuning kinda sucked, and a lot of the competitors cars were riced like crazy, but it wasn't mandatory at least, like it was in UG and UG2. The physics model was great, since it wasn't too realistic, yet wasn't too arcade-y, the graphics were superb if you had a good enough computer, etc.

Carbon: Underground 3. It was better than UG2 though, so maybe I shouldn't be complaining. A return to the dark side.

Pro Street: Loss of focus. At this point, they don't know whether they want to do rice, sports cars, or muscle, and instead chose to combine all three. Ick. The graphics are great, but the physics are too confused. Its trying to be closer to sim, but its not quite pulling it off, so you have a completely unrealistic physics engine that is neither arcade-y (no effort) or simulation (realistic) and a car that just doesn't turn, no matter which style of driving you use. It is better than Carbon/UG3 though, I'll give them that. And hooray for the return of damage, though the implementation sucks. "Light Damage" my ass. Give me the icons and 1-100 bar graph for damage like you did in the old days.....

NFS 3- Loved it, my entire family played it
NFS Underground-liked it, enjoyed liked the modding system, at the time I though the graphics were absolutely amazing
NFSU2- same as above, eventually got annoyed by the free roaming system
Most Wanted- I really like the addition of exotic cars, it was just what I was wishing for in combo with the mod system
Carbon- played the demo, and lost interest, I just stuck with MW
ProStreet- I kind of like the graphics, cars handle alot different... you can't just floor it. I'm confused on this one.

I've played every single NFS game with the exception of Carbon, which I own but my laptop is too slow to run it. It literally wont even start.

Anyway apart from that, I recently had the chance to play both Grand Turismo HD on the PS3 and NFS Prostreet demo on the PC (obviously not my pc).

I have to say that your comments on sheer graphics power are correct. The game looks disturbingly different when compared to Most Wanted and the damage effects are great. However, I believe that comparing the Underground series with this brand new chapter is unfair. Just like comparing Hot Pursuit to Underground would be unfair.
I believe EA is trying to turn the page and try something different. And (through the limited capabilities of the demo) I could appreciate this change. Sure, coming off GT HD and into Prostreet, you really really feel the cartoonyness of the handling, which is still better than the sheer "my car bends the laws of physics" quality that was typical of every need for speed game upto now, but not yet at the level of Forza 2, PGR, or any other simulation/arcade game but it is an attempt and it should be appreciated.

I dont know if I will be buying Prostreet or not. I would have to try the actual game first to make up my mind, but I look foward to better handling in Prostreet 2, should that come around.

All and all, it isnt really a bad game considering who it appeals to. I dont see any reason to flame it like you guys are doing

The nfs series will not die, kids and young player are attracted more by cool graphics than real substance. But other opponents are coming instead of pro street and a simple game like trackmania is far away better than nfsps...i only hope that nfs series come back with a nfsu 3 with more tuning aspects, realtime damages, cops and day/night challenges...Is it too hard???

Pro street sucks and it's not a flame it's reality...no one pays me to talk bad about EA Games...

I'm playing the full game at the moment and just found out the tuning in ProStreet is actually one of the most in depth part of the game. My GT500 (bought it today ;) ) got a massive speed increase in the drag races from custom tuning and so far I'm very happy to see that tuning is actually important if you want your car to perform at its peak. :)

I played hot pursuit before High stakes, so I enjoyed it a lot, but the rest is exactly as you said.

NFS PU and MW would probably rank as my favourites, with PS at the bottom. I didn't play UG2, so no pain there.

I sold my Shelby GT500 and bought a GTO and fully upgraded + tuned it, and beat the DRAG KING right after that. ;) It was extremely easy to beat (I wish it was harder...lol) and I got his car (in the screenshot below) as a reward + $50000. :D

Alright, beat the DRIFT KING as well with my fully upgraded Toyota Corolla AE86. :D It wasn't as easy as the DRAG KING and some of the races before the final DRIFT KING ones are actually quite hard. I find it wierd coz the 3 final races are actually easier to beat than the earlier ones (maybe it's because I got better... ). Anyway, as usual I won his RX-7 + $50000 cash. That thing is absolutely a beast. It drifts so much faster, better & cooler than my Corolla... :D
