Hey all, I decided to pick up an extra 2 gigs of ram for my laptop making it a total of 4gigs.

I have an 8600m GT 512 GDDR3 card in there. What kind of performance increases should I expect? (framerate, textures, etc)

I am running my games on Vista x64 and they do well with 2 gigs...I am trying to get an idea of what 4 gigs might do so I can compare that to what actually happens :p

I should be getting the RAM in a few hours.

I play COD 4 CnC 3, WoW etc...so I play a wide range of types etc.

    Thanks!

The performance itself will not be altered. You will notice the loading times can get shorter and now you can play demanding games with a few applications open and see no hit in the game performance (since now you have plenty of resources).

I am running Vista32 and noticed absolutely none whatsoever. I kept an eye on memory usage, and played several games. Because there was no difference, I returned the newly acquired 2 GIG back to the shop.

Maybe Vista64 is different, but I'm not qualified to comment.

It also depends on what resolution you're playing at and what settings you have on.

    I remember BF2142 + 1920x1200 + 2GB of memory + Vista = BSOD's

Once I upgraded to 4GB, everything ran smooth and my HDD wasn't being cached as much.

God I miss my ol' rig. :(
