    Hi,

I've narrowed my search down to 2 laptops Vostro 1710 and Lenovo IdeaPad Y730 - 405332U (Orange) and i'm curious as how how much of a difference there is between the two video cards.

    The vostro comes with a 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8600M GS (128 bit)

and the Ideapad ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 512MB

The rest of the specs are somewhat similar, with a little edge to the ideapad. I don't do heavy gaming but do play warcraft. I really have no idea how these 2 stack up.

Any thoughts on those 2 would be appreciated

    Thanks

Hah thank you. Everything seems to point to going with the Lenovo. Minus the fact it's bright orange. Guess I will have to get past that :)

The 3650 beats the 8600M GS flat.

I had the Benq S41 once and it comes with the Nvidia 8600M GS 256MB GDDR3. Performance wise, it is equal or slightly better than the ATI X2500 (rebranded ATI X1700) on my Acer 4920G. The ATI HD 3650 on my Asus M50Sa on the other hand is about equal or slightly better than the Nvidia 8600M GT/9500M GS. Whichever laptop you choose wouldn't matter much since you're not into gaming anyway. However I would strongly recommend that you choose the Ideapad cause personally I believe it is the right choice :) .

That ATI card is better than that NVIDIA card. I would probably get the IdeaPad over that Vostro.
