Differences Between Quadro and Geforce Cards

What are the differences between Quadro cards and Geforce Cards?

 

Quadro is for business and Geforce is for commercial

They does use Quadro to make the games and a Quadro is like $2000 US.

In other words if you have a quadro then you can play any game ion the world maxed out with no sticking. Because thats the card the developers used to make the game in the first place.

Sorry, but that is definitely wrong. You were right about the fact that Quadro is for business and Geforce is usually for commercial and gaming. However, Quadro cards are mostly used for engineering and visual simulations and other more "practical" graphical intensive tasks. Geforce cards are usually much better at gaming than Quadro's. It still depends on what kinds of Quadro and Geforce cards you're looking at. Take the Quadro 140M for example. It is horrible at gaming.

 

What makes quadro cards better for engineering and visual simulation over the geforce cards. In other words, i know the differences between the marketing between the two, but what are the differences hardware wise?

Ent they use ATI Firegl 2000 and stuff etc etc etc.

Dosen't it have special cards designed for making a video game?

actually these cards are the same !! productionwise there is only one graphics chip developed. this chip has all the features - professional and consumer

Nvidia has decided to cut off certain connections on the chip to physically disable the professional features. Then these cards are sold as consumer-cards(gaming-cards).

the big difference between these cards is that professional cards have different drivers. these are developed independently from the gaming drivers.
the developement of these professional drivers is expensive , and so are the cards. Gaming cards work with directx, while professional cards are for opengl.

 

though with the proper driver, a quadro can perform on par if not better than the geforce using the same chip

thats absoluty correct !!

one difference i have not mentioned, the professional graphics boards do have better memory and a better memory controller. these features even make them faster as the common geforce.

 

Yeah , I was interested in wuzerthelosers notebook , same specs and stuff but the price was 2 times my vostro so I didnt consider it.

 

has anyone ever tried to use quadro drivers with a gaming card? what would it do? make it perform similar to a comparable quadro in in industrial/simulation apps?

 

It was possible to force Nvidia´s Geforce cards via a driver mod to a quadro ( soft quadro ). Up to the Geforce 6xxx- series it was possible to do so. But with the Geforce 7xxx series the above mentioned hardware changes were introduced and softmodding for Nvidia´s cards
is history since then.

 

unfortunately....i don't think you could do that. i'm not entirely certain though

it's a nice notebook and i got a great deal on it. $1400 shipped after taxes. amazing how you get 6 hours of battery life though...i can get about 5.
