Quadro - for professional applications, ie 3dmax, maya
Geforce - for generl usage, ie gaming, video editing
you can play games on Quadro, just not as fast as Geforce.

If you are using vista then there no difference what so ever even in professional programs or games, they use the same driver and all professional drivers don't work under vista

if you are using xp ,the nvs specially is lost between the fx performance profissional cards and the geforce gaming cards and have no advantage over any of the the two lines,I can't find any use for it

nvidia says it's designed for 2d graphics  and I assure you that there isn't even a 1% advantage in this area that could be achieved by graphic cards

But when it comes to nvs 140m specially its a very slow graphic card it won't work well with most of the new upcomming games or profissional programes

    So,
if you r looking for games go directly for the geforce and skip all the branding propaganda

I know for a fact that some functionality in some professional software WILL NOT WORK at all with GeForce, while it will with Quadro. They call these things out in the readmes for programs like 3D Studio Max and AutoCAD. I've actually seen these programs lock up and crash do to these problems. That said, for games, little to no difference, and for the novice user of the other software, little to no difference likely.

Some Geforce cards can be soft modded into quadro cards.

Aren't the NVS the quadro version of the x200-x400 cards while the FX are the x600-x800?

the 3 nividia lines are based on the same graphic core ,there is 3 crads for every range,
the nvs320m,the 8700gt and fx1600 for example are virtually the same
the only thing that changes is the driver that operates it

From my professional work, programes like 3dsmax and so work fine with no diffrence between the geforce and quadro when using cards from the same preformance line on the directx mode, the cause of the crashes is that these programes are so fragile ,and most of the crashes are due to memory failure.
The only way to see performance difference is to use xp and use the Maxtreme and power draft performance drivers

Have things changed in the past year? Cause I saw these issues about a year ago. I was working at a game studio, and one of the artists kept having problems. No one else was, but he was the only one on a GeForce, and there was documentation online for the app (I forget which app it was, but it was something like 3DSMax) saying that there were incompatabilities with the GeForce line.
