Has anyone encountered the above anomaly?
    I OC'd my 8600m GT DDR2 to 560/470; core and memory respectively.
With the above OC, I run stable in 30+ minutes of 3DMark06 with no artifacts and temp sub 85C.
In the same accord, I played Crysis today for 2+ hrs with no downclock, driver failures, or shutdowns. Thus, another testament to the stable OC.
However, the issue arises in Gears of War, which has been known to be plagued with issues such as instant APPCRASHES (Stop working Msgs in vista).
When I play Gears, after about 20 minutes my PC just autoshuts. It reboots itself with no warning. Now what I'm asking is, does anyone have insight as to why the problem occurs?
    Thanks.

Some games just do not tolerate GPU overclocking, it's as simple as that. If you do encounter one of these games go back to stock clocks first and see that helps.

Guess we can't expect much from ports.

yup, crysis seems to be stable for me at 715/900 for 8 hours+. 3dm06 runs fine at 725/910. but with other games, TF2 for example, i can only clock at 620/820 max or it'll shut down randomly

i think this is a drivers related issue :(
