I asked this on other places but I like to hear more opinions. Sorry if you have already answered it somwhere else :)

Is the difference between the 2070S MQ and 2080S MQ in my country worth it? For 1080P at max settings

The price difference between the 2 models is roughly $700 (conversion from MXN), there are not other similar models in my country, so those would be my options to compare .

    One is MSI GS66 SFS with and i9-10980hk, 16g if ram and a 2070 Super Max q ( $2735)

The other is a MSI GE66 Raider with also an i9, 32gb of ram and a 2080 Super max q ($3485)

Should I settle with the 2070S MQ or It would be more worth it to get the 2080S MQ?
    Thank you for your opinion.

I am aware of that, but I really need a laptop, regarding my question, is it worth?

the gs66 is the better buy and will have better resale value when in 5 months the ps5 and xbox series x drop and you will be only able to play minesweeper with those gpus.

honestly because I care.....wait its not often I say that but wait the new consoles are arriving soon and gpus of today will be obsolete.. I bought a gtx 1060 laptop 2 months ago because I have a huge backlog of games I bought that I want to play through and they will keep me busy for years.....but for you....wait till 3080s come out in 7 months. like it might be tempting to get a gs66 but in like 5 months it will be a paperweight so just think of that

Look at the numbers in the benchmarking charts, and compare the performance between the 2070 and 2080 Super relative to the price difference between the two models you're considering.

Ok, now compare that to the price difference.

So the 2070S MQ is a better choice?

Many other people also told me that...

First of all, use the multi-quote button if you wish to respond to multiple people. Don't create separate posts.

You're looking at this the wrong way: It costs 20% more for just an 8% performance improvement.

Sometimes I have a hard time telling apart the Max-Q versions of the RTX 2070 Super and RTX 2080 Super in benchmarks. The same was true of their non-Super predecessors. I'd stick to the RTX 2070 for that reason unless the RTX 2080 is a free upgrade.

Ooh, interesting POV, hadn’t considered it that way. It’s now more clear that it may not be worth

edit: sorry, I didn’t see the multi quote, I will use it in next answers

The only RTX 2080S Max q here in Mexico at the same price range is also an MSI GS66 but with an i7-10750h and the 2080S MQ, in which I would loose a lot of processing power that I could use for my rendering/Unreal engine needs, don’t you think so?

Existing GPUs are not going to suddenly be unusable, you'll still be able to get years out of a 20 series as long a you don't have to have the absolute latest and greatest.

Not sure if it's available in Mexico, but there's the Eluktronics MAX-17, which has the i7 10875H and a full 115W RTX 2070 Super. Eluktronics in particular hardware modifies the GPU so it can pull even more wattage so you'll get an even bigger performance bump. It's a 17-inch model, but its form factor is surprisingly close to that of a 15. It's also remarkably thin and very light for its size. If this model is not available, the same chassis is also used in the Maingear Element 2-EL3, and I know they ship internationally.

I have checked out a lot of options and sadly I can only buy a laptop from Mexican stores, why? Well importation laws suck here in Mexico and many companies ask you to fill in many papers and permits in order to ship here. That process and a tax of 19% from the whole product I have to pay to bring it here is what stopped me from buying a Sager, Eluktroniks is a company that simply decided not to ship Mexico

last time I checked 99 percent of games were ports. maybe im wrong but i think games will be more demanding than ever before and the current 2080 wont cut it...maybe at 1080p will be fine but 4k no way.
