Are there any other companies aside from Blizzard, who implemented digital downloads of their games that you own? I think that other companies should do the same incase you lost your cd or cannot install it via cd. For example, after a clean install of windows 7, my cd drive failed after a week and i didn't fix it. I can't install games i bought through retail like RE5/SFIV again through their cds. I had to go find (really slow) download links to download the iso files and install them through daemon tools. I mean it was the same with tf2, but i could install that directly through steam overnight, all in one step. Maybe they should integrate retail games through steam too, that way if something like this does happen, atleast you can reinstall it without going through the hassle of finding the game to download in the first place.

EA does it with quite a few of their games. not that I'd recommend their EADM anyways, a crock if I ever saw one

Any game you get via Steam or Direct2Drive will be downloadable anywhere. As for developers, Infinity Ward has their entire Call of Duty series available on Steam, and every Valve game ever made is on there as well. Just do a search in the Steam store, you'll find plenty of stuff.

EA Games has EA Downloader (Worst solution ever.
)
Valve has Steam, and they include many other game companies including EA.
Blizzard has Battle.net now.
Stardock is working on their digital game system, called Impluse.
Never tried it but by the looks of it they have some nice games there. -
