Hello, how do i run the direct x diagnostic tool (dxdiag|) on a vista laptop, i cant find the RUN command anywhere and i wanna know whether my card has GDDR 2 or 3 memory , thx![]()

just type dxdiag in the search box, when you press the windows icon, bottom left of the screen.

just do dxdiag in the start menu search. For future reference just type run in there. You can find anything from there.

but it doesnt say whether my gfx card has DDR2 or DDR3 memory? and it says that my gfx card has 496MB of video memory, howz that possible? does it say that coz the rests of the memory (which is supposed to be 512 in total) is being used by vista ? thx

try a program called GPU-Z

I'm quite sure dxdiag will not give you your RAMDAC memory type, you should use programs like Everest, RivaTuner or nTune which will tell you your video memory speeds.
GPU-Z as mentioned above is accurate and will give you what you're looking for. -
