How do you change games so that it'll run on direct X 8.9? I heard someone say that you can change Half Life 2 so that it'll use direct X 8. Can you do that with star wars battle front 2?

I'm not sure about BattleFront 2 - I'm pretty sure that you need DX9 for that (you can run it on it on an 8.1 card, but you need DX9.0c software), as the shaders can get a bit complex.
However, with Half-Life 2, you can run under DX8.1. Here are the command lines you can use for different DirectX levels:
DirectX 9: mat_dxlevel 90
DirectX 8.1: mat_dxlevel 81
DirectX 8.0: mat_dxlevel 80
DirectX 7.0: mat_dxlevel 70
All you have to do is create a shortcut to Half-Life 2, and add the desired options at the end of the command-line in your shortcut. -
Do you think I can run Battlefront 2 with a Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 440 and a 1.2 ghz Celeron with Low on everything?

No, unfortunately you can't . . you need a video card that has hardware pixel shader units - as in, DX8 cards and up. The GeForce 4MX is a DX7 card, which means no pixel pipelines.

I tried it and when I start the game, it opens 2 tabs. One says SWBFII and the other says FATAL. Is it because of my graphic card?
Direct X x.x?
