    Hey,

Okay so, i got together with an old friend we decided to install this old game we were obsessed with 6 years ago, Star wars Galactic Battlegrounds.

It installed fine, but a soon as I ran it, the screen goes black, like it should then BOOM, I'm slapped with an error saying DirectDraw error, and to check if my video card or driver is supported.

Well, I tried in XP on the same machine, same damn result. And both OS's have different driver versions.

    169.01 and 165.01

Did a Dxdiag, and everything is ok..so..now what lol..

    Google was no help.

Reinstall DX9 or DX10 on the problem machine and try again. If that doesn't work maybe try installing the game's version of DirectX to see if anything changes. I'm taking a wild guess here since Directdraw errors for me normally occur when there's a problem with DirectX even if the diagnostic program doesn't show a problem.

Always do that, with every game, no matter what.
If you already have the files, nothing happens. If you don't, it adds them. Always, repeat, always, install DX when a game asks you to. (That is, if the game uses DX9. You can still try doing it with older versions, but it shouldn't be necessary)

It sounds to me like it's more of an issue with the game than it is of your drivers. Is the game patched to the latest version? Have your searched for other users having similar problems?

I forgot about the patch for the game, I'm gonna apply it and see how it goes.

As far as installing DX10.. lol where do you get it? MS's crummy site has nada.

Also, set the game executable to run in compatibility mode with the OS that it was built for. I think from that time games were built with Win98 in mind so set it for that. Old games and new OSes sometimes cause issues...
