I'm obviously biased since I loved Dirt 2 so much Dirt 3 is just as good if not better. Excellent performance for my specs listed below (about 40 FPS ave depending on location).
Cars handle well and the modes are fun, tracks are very nicely detailed, very much worth the price.
-
Will get it once I finish Dirt 2! Glad to hear it is just as good as part 2.
-
Still haven't beat DiRT 2. I like racing games, but only every once in a while. And a controller would be nice...
-
I'm guessing you didn't try it on you C50 netbook. -
Shadowfate Wala pa rin ako maisip e.
I doubt Dirt 3 will be playable at all -
Did they make Dirt 3 more rally like.
Sadly thats the only reason i dident fully enjoy Dirt 2. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
got it today and installed on main rig.
For anyone add me to GFWL: KingpinZero -
-
The only half decent rally game i have is Sega Rally on PS3.
Looks like im grabbing Dirt 3. -
The most fun I ever had with a Rally game was Rallisport Challenge 1 & 2. I haven't gotten very far with DiRT 2 yet, so probably won't get DiRT 3 unless cheap or until I get through DiRT 2.
-
Honosly i think Colin Mcrae 2 and 3 was much better than the Dirt games...but thats me
-
do u guys know if there are trophy trucks and baja racing in Dirt 3?
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Anyone have benchmarks? Wondering how it will run on my 485m. Downloading now.
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Well if this helps, heres my benchmark:
275.27 betas
Dirt 3, 1200p, Sli, Ultra, 8xCsaa: 43.6 FPS Average, Min 36.2, Max 59.2
Dirt 3, 1200p, Sli, Ultra, 2xMsaa: 52.6 FPS Average, Min 41.2 Max 61.1
So since two 9800m GTX perform a bit slower than a GTX460m this can be a good reference.
Mind you my cards does only DX10/9 so no DX11 for me. Those with newer Fermi/Ati with DX11 mobile cards may achieve lesser fps, since the game is heavy in DX11 (im doing 75fps of average on my desktop rig). -
Hmmm are you sure that 2x9800m GTX will perform slower than a single GTX460M?.
-
9800m GTX in SLI will be faster than a single GTX 460m. The 9800m GTX is nearly the same as a GTX 260m, and the 460m is maybe 30% improvement over the 260m.
-
As i thought it was -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Well i cant really compare them as i dont own a gtx460m, but iirc that 2 9800gtx/260gtx were similar to a single gtx460m.
Well if they are faster thats coolthis xps still going strong!
The only thing that lacks is a quad core, my x9000 is getting old.
Anyway...having such performance at 1920x1200 maxing out every setting is indeed awesome. -
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Dunno mate. Last time i did vantage was three drivers ago, i cant really recall it. I was able however to hit p10,025. I know its not great.

HOTNESS!!!!! i am downloading on steam now..i am going out tomorrow to buy the Logitech Force GT wheel.....i hate to admit it but im buying this game because i own a Mini and i want to do things to it that i cant do to my real mini lol.
-
I've noticed something weird with the head2head and possibly rally races. If it has multiple stages, the second stage usually has much higher FPS than the first one despite the same location and everything...
Really strange. -
Ultra Settings 4xAA 1920x1200
av_fps="66.113518" min_fps="54.711021"
Awesome game too and could o/c computer for more fps -
Thtat's what i've got on my rig
I like the way it is optimised, runs great. Love it) -
AWESOME GAME...in my baby 5650+720qm go in 1366+768 in all high(i not try ultra but i think can handle great) very very very great(at eye 30/40fps)
-
lol I bench it on high detail and i've got average at 88FPS 4xAA, I didn't notice it has ultra setting lol
I did it again on ultra setting and 4xAA, I've got 58 average at 1920x1200 -
ok i have the value of it...1366x768+2x msaa+all high(except occlusion)=45/60 fps loooooooooooooooooooool(in all stages,not just benchmark)
THE OPTIMIZATION IS INCREDIBLE ON THIS GAME!!!!!...in dirt2 with the same setting i have framerate on 30/35 fps O.O...nfs shift 2 is orrible in optmization O.O...i'm very very happy of this game -
Best rally experience ever for me was Richard Burns Rally. It was so good, and CMR 05 was so bad in comparison, that I, at that point, had decided not to even try any further CMR games. Now, after having enjoyed RBR for 5 years, I feel ready to try and see if these new CMR DiRT series is any good. I think I will chose DiRT 3 over its predecessors for all the praising this game is having.
Will post my impressions here in a few days.

eyey man...wait a second...Dirt 3 is a fantastic racing game BUT if you love rbr just no buy dirt...its a very different(arcade)game...definitely not a simulator!
-
-
Runs amazingly well on my rig, 1366x760, all high settings, average 50 fps.
Great game, Finally the legendary GROUP B. i LOVE IT.
Got one little minor problem though, i got some wierd graphic glitch with the sun being a red blob of mess? and some of the text is just red as well, like it's been cut out? wierd.
Anyway, back to playing it -
Is anyone aware of a playable PC demo like the one for Dirt 2?
I did some searching but could not come up with anything. All this discussion has got me hypped up, but money is tight, and I like to try B4 I buy. thanks Josea -

Ive been playing since the minute it was unlocked on steam. GTX 260m + P8700 and everything including AA maxed out no Vsync and Im running smooth as butter with no slow downs. (1680 x 1050 resolution)
Im getting close to finishing the single player part of the game and Ive gotta say the rally bits are better the gymkhana bit has been a blast even though I expected it to be not that fun. To me its Dirt 2 but the environmental graphics quality on steroids and a new lens filter.
Edit: Anyone else think load times are a bit long in Dirt 3? -
-
the game runs very good. i have everything maxed out except for post processing to medium due to DX10 card mirrors and shadows to medium and AA to 8. in game i have about 35-40 fps. still did not noticed less than 30 even with rapture to ultra. wish other games will run like this such as f1 and nfs shift 2.
as i can see what they did is they optimized and polished out the game engine a lot and the result can be seen. not a lot of innovation in this time. it looks awesome and it feels real i dont want nothing more and my laptop still rocks after almost mm.. 4 years of having it. still have to get used to playing it better cause i get frustrated mos of the time with only abs enabled.
good job codemasters. -
Does someone know how to correct the fullscreen bug other than modifying the xml file and or pressing alt+enter.
Both of these have been done and my game still refuses to go fullscreen, i can only play in windowed -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
So what are the drivers and gpu you using?
Also...NBR PEOPLES! Add me, im looking forward to do some multi together. Since now it supports squad based events, we should do an NBR match all together.
Live id is the same as my nickname. -
mine is Sorobarok
-
Anyone with the same rig ? -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Errata corrige: Live id is KingpinZER0 <--number 0, not letter O!. -
Thinking of picking this up, but I have a question. Are their plenty of actual races against other AI cars? I am not a fan of time trials or drifting or anything of that sort.
Thanks. -
Sorry to revive this thread and advertise but I have an extra copy of Dirt 3 to sell if anyone is interested. I have the details in the NBR Marketplace
Dirt 3 is out and it's awesome
