Okay, so I'm really disappointed now. I finished the main quest of Fallout 3, while it's a nice story and all, why can't I keep on going like in Oblivion??

That's just stupid. I turned on the purifier, made some decisions, everything turned out just fine, and now I'm back to the main screen, and there are so many other places to explore, so many other side quests and stuff.

    I'm disappointed.

It would have been great if you could go on, with the water the way you chose, and all that.

I only played a couple of hours and have not played since. I think I wanted a awesome FPS game like the videos made it out to be, not another wander around aimlessly game. Thats why I never finished Bioshock.

I think i am going to restart and go blow up MegaTon because after killing some of the cultist the whole town is after me now and I just was nice enough to try and save the whole town, so I am gonna so those....

I would prefer some more games like doom 64, or jedi knight to come out.

Also Half Life did it good when it came to both being an active FPS while still giving you some freedom to roam and story.

It's a good game to be fair.

It's more about exploration than anything else. So if you don't like to explore much in games then you might not be all that interested in Fallout 3.

I think Fallout 3 is awesome. I am all about roaming around and doing side quests for hours on end. What an intense world.

Funny you say that... I almost didnt buy the game because I thought it WAS going to be an FPS. Dont get me wrong, I love a good FPS, but Fallout 3 isnt about that. I was wondering what manner of abortion Bethesda had turned the franchise into... But after reading the real people reviews I decided to get it. Absolutely stunning how perfectly Bethesda did it...

HL2 was the biggest, let down, linear, scripted piece of sh!t I have plaid in the last decade. I felt like I had more freedoom in Q4.

HL2 was the best game ever.

@pico, HL2 was designed to be a linear game, so you can't really hold that against it.

fallout 3 is an incredible game

bioshock was a good game too but it was WAY more limited fallout 3 is just so much more deep.

Great production values. Great art of course, bethesda has the best graphics artists in the entire world.
    Im actually amazed by it.

I think it will get way cooler when people start modding it.

To be fair I havent finished it like you have im about 15 hours in and im busy. I love it though.

I loved oblivion. I think its better than oblivion

Funny this topic's here. I've put probably 50 hours into Fallout already, just finished played since I work up today :p

I had the same issue as the OP, luckily I'd saved about an hour prior to finishing the main story. I just loaded that up, and played around to my heart's content.

Well, I must admit... it wasnt HORRIBLE... I'm I DID play it all the way through. It was just hyped WAY to much. I felt like they tried to cover up the lack of game depth with scripted events. I HATE that. Maybe it was because I was so enthralled with HL 1. I remember jumping out of my chair a few times playing it. I had never been taken so deeply by a game before. A perfect example of a big money franchise trying to cash in on some easy money. I classify it in the, “Could have been a contender” category. Probably because the first one was so ground breaking and revolutionary. To high of an expectation… idk. Bottom line is it was douche.

I think it one of those games that you try to make yourself like it. But after you play it for a while you start to realized how much you actually hate playing it and you just dont want to make all your hyping of the game go to waste lol. Its all in mental. Dont try to make yourself like a game play and be as harshly honest as you can be to yourself lol.

    I've been there.

That's how most RPGs are, with all the grinding and ****, but I did not find myself hating anything in Fallout. There's not any grinding at all really, because the leveling is similar to that of oblivion. When you go to an area, everything in that area is your level. If you leave and come back, the stuff is whatever level you were when you first visited.

The only time I didn't enjoy the game was when I couldn't find Tara's god****ed body in bomb storage for the quest "You Gotta Shoot 'Em in the Head." Thought I was going to go insane.

Im dying too much :( enemies taking a million hits to kill, I have a pistol and shotgun and no ammo for them, health packs give me almost no health and everything I need to do so far requires a skill that I do not have lol.

Let me blow up Atom already.

    Get close, use VATS.
Also be sure to raid the Super Duper Mart early on to get some basic but decent weapons (like the Laser Pistol)

Laser pistol is very useful. but dont you have the hunting rifle? any super mutant drops it, its very useful. and with it you can kill anything , instant headshots in early levels :D

personally i thought fallout 3 got boring after about 7 hours into the game. Don't get me wrong it was an awesome game at first, but it just got boring for me. I guess I'm more of an fps guy than a rpg guy.

i think we need to move exclusively toward co-op/multiplayer; fallout is a paperweight once you play it through once; as an mmo this could have been a great game, it definitely has one of the most impressive game settings in recent memory; at least if co-op was implemented this would at least give the game some life past the end of single-player; id play it through again with my friend no doubt about it

singleplayer-only games imo should be about 1/2 the price of multiplayer ones, their days are numbered, again IMO

I'm about 20 hours into character 2, did about 50 on character one. A co-worker of mine is on his third. It's all a matter of opinion. I like getting to see all the different outcomes that are available.

It's not going to be an MMO because Bethesda does not have the rights, they are still held by Black Isle Studios. Though I agree, it would be pretty awesome running around post-apocolyptia killing everything with a friend, an MMO would be pretty difficult as you'd have to detract lots of stuff that make the game cool to begin with, like VATS.

If you want this game in MMO form its called Hellgate London lol. Seriously I own it and thats almost exactly what it would be except hell has taken over instead of radiation.

Bethesda own the rights, but Interplay has the rights to make an MMO, which is what they're doing with the money from selling Fallout. Also, Black Isle is long gone although, as I understand, the devs started Obsidian Entertainment.

I have like 25 games that I bought for my gaming notebook, and the only one that I played to the end in single player is COD4 and multiplayer is the only game that holds my interest,so when I have to choose what game gets my valuable time I always choose COD4 multiplayer, but I want variety and was hoping something new would come along to entrance me like COD4 multiplayer.

I read the hype but was kinda hesitant to buy Fallout 3, but since I just got this gaming notebook I wanted to see if it could push new gaming software all maxed graphically, since it could push Bioshock and Gears of War, Oblivion and Cod4 and all my other games maxed. So since fallout 3 was new tech I bought it. I stop playing Fallout 3 now that something I was actually craving for arrived COD WAW. Still love COD4 though. Fallout is a good roleplaying game to be fair, but it doesn't hold my interest. COD has this satisfaction about it, the gameplay is just what I've been looking for. Now I don't know if I'll ever finish those other games I bought.

Fallout is being developed as an MMO.

I think anyone who's read the game forums knows I'm not a big fan of the Fallout 3 game but that's probably because I loved Fallout 2 to death and if I wanted a FPS I'd buy one instead of an odd hybrid. That being said I gave Fallout 3 a fair chance, I must have clocked somewhere around 20-30hours and it has its moments but just a pretty average game with a less than average combat system.

And your quote about single player games...that's ridiculous. I agree that some games are more fun multiplaying aka FPS but where's the love for games that require thought and ingenuity. Games like Planescape: Torment, Monkey Island, hell even some RTS's are awesome in single player mode. And please half-price...designing a FPS is substantially easier then developing a game that requires other actions then click boom.

Im still playing FO3, it may not have sucked me in like I wanted too but it has enough charm to keep me coming back.

I finally got my hands on some money & weapons so things are moving along much better now and I am doing some quests (yay off to a minefield to defuse landmines lol)
