It depends on the game, if the disc is not required, well then you don't need it. If it is however, since you legally own the game, you can use Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120/52 or something of the like to hopefully emulate the disc. Check out the respective web pages for more details.

okay thanx, will doing this damage the game files or the laptop in any way?
(thanx for quick reply) -
Why would it, it just rips the files (I think) to your hard drive and runs them off there. Unfortunately this means that you use extra space since you're using the game twice, once for install, 2nd for CD/DVD drive emulation.
-
Basically what you do is make an electronic copy of the CD that you can store on your hard drive. So when the game runs and it asks for a CD, then instead of you physically putting the CD in the drive, you can just use the electronic copy of the CD to run the game.
This way you can just store the CD info on your hard drive instead of having to carrying the actual CD around with you. -
Link to free version of Alcohol 52% (all features of full version but no 31 virtual drives (6 here) and no CD/DVD burning abilities)

oh okay thanx, well i plan on getting the 500GB HD when they are released and cheaper^^ the laptop im getting has a 320GB HD so that should do?
-
Yeah, that should be fine, it just depends on how many games you want on there at once.

i've sent you a pm about alcohol 120%

No CD/DVD cracks are perfectly legal if you own the game. I would try that first before emulating your game disk.

i really cant wait til i get my laptop^^
5months going to be agony -
Most games run no problem without disc. All steam games are fine. My CoD4 came on CD but runs just fine without it.
In my experience a lot of recent games can be run without the disc. -
I agree with crash, if you "own" the game it is legal to use NO CD/DVD cracks....that would be the best method IMO, and you dont take up the extra disk space.
-
Discs can sometimes be a hassle. I don't really no what the DVD is supposed to provide. To play BF2142 I need to have a disc in the drive. But when I play the game nothing is happening in my DVD-drive. Light only blinks when it reads the disc after inserting it.
It's of course one of the many ways the companies try to curb piracy. -
gamecopyworld.com. like the others have said, since u legally own the game *assuming you do and aren't a torrent addict* go there and find the game u want, find the NO CD/DVD crack and follow instructions. usually the no cd/dvd exe's will just have u replace say oblivion.exe w/ their new one, and whatever shortcut icons u have, replace those w/ new ones from ur new exe, and bada-bing-bada-boom ur ready to play.

too be honest i have NEVER used torrents even though i know loads of people that do.
-
there are some games though that need the cd running, others that do not work even with drive emulators so you're left then with either no cd/dvd "crack" (disables updates usually) or spinning the cd in the drive which in longrun isn't that good idea... (wear, battery, noise, heat, etc.)

Yarr mateys! Bittorrent has more uses then getting pirated software. Yarr...
Seriously, I don't really care what people use bittorrent for. Go with the cracks if you really hate using CD's all the time. -
Use Gamecopyworld. It's the best and most reliable site out there, and completely legal. Just search google for "no-cd" and it will be the first result.
Nowadays I buy ALL my games from Steam, since it doesn't require a CD and you own the games forever. I really hate having to switch CD's between games...
Steam wins! -
I like Steam and its ease of use. But I also like to own a physical copy of the game or software. Just in case. I just feel more comfortable if there's a disc if I need it.
