Does this annoy anybody else? Whenever i go over to a friends house i see disks (DVDS, games, cds) left around, usually on top of their cases, it makes me cringe. If someone leaves one of my disks out, especially data-side-down, i will flip, and they don't do it again![]()
So feel free to rant.

sounds a tad obsessive, but you are correct in stating that it does create a lot of waste

While you are right in obsessing about being outside data side down, it's not the end of the world. And it definitely does not merit "flipping out on enough that they learn their lesson and don't do it again". Yes you should mention it and whatnot, but no offense, if someone flipped out on me like that about a stupid cd, I would immediately remove myself from their premisces and never ever return.
So while I don't condone doing such with CDs, especially data side down, I don't find it necessary to go to such extremes as you. But to each his own. -

I voted the last option. It shows their lack of care! XD

yeah, for sure it does... dunno why though, i guess my dad had an influence on me...he'd usually trip if he saw cd's left out w/o cases lol
-
I usually leave cd's or dvd's out if I'm using them. After a while I get tired of my emssy desk, and back to their places they go.
-
Lol, maybe i should have explained, i don't necessarily flip out on them the first time, but the second time i tend to yell. It's my stuff, i paid money for it, treat properly, its not my business what you do with disks but you don't disrespect my stuff. I know they don't do it on purpose but just think before you act.
-
I'll leave them out until I'm don using them, normally you'll never see more than one or two at a time -- kinda a neat freak.

I accidentally scuffed a CD on the ground by stepping on it when it was shiny side down on slightly rough marble flooring, so it got all dinged up. The CD still works fine. In any case, I could rip the CD with some serious error correcting software and get a copy 99% as good as the original.

I leave my CDs/DVDs stacked if it is something I am going to be using often/semi often. I've yet to have a scratched anything. They are on top of one of those CD spindles, in a corner of where I keep all my game boxes.
I don't leave console games out though, just my PC stuff at my desk. -
I often leave disks out like that, though to be fair anything that's halfway valuable/hard to replace is backed up, either on an external HDD or a backup DVD.
