Whenever I start up my HDX16 it runs for about 3 minutes them the screen goes blank but the computer is still on. Tried inserting and running the OS software but cannot see the display since the screen is blank.

Try going into safe-mode on the laptop by hitting (usually) F8 during the load screen and try the OS disc there. While is safe mode, go under Hardware Manager (right click my computer, then properties), and uninstall the display adapter drivers. Then follow this with a 'search for recent changes' under the File menu.

If that doesn't work, then try using the OS disc during launch (make sure boot from CD/DVD is enabled in the BIOS) and see if you can do a repair.

Thanks Lokiwn, I'll try that.. just to note, this screen bnalk out has been gradually happening over the past three months. It started happening after 20 minutes then five minutes then now about two minutes after the system started. Anyway, I'll try your suggestion. Thanks dude...
